Tick toc tick toc, the sound of your wrist watch echo around you as you wait for your team members to arrive you were always the first one in the match waiting room, not only because you don't have anything to do but you don't want to be a burden to your friends by being late and delaying the game start.
So it was always in your mind to head in the match waiting room when you no longer have anything to do so you can just wait for them there, you always love being on time maybe it was one of your obsessions being always on time. Also the match waiting room was exceptionally cold and you really love places that is cold and dark, you suffer from sleep depravity so the continues search for a place where you can be comfortable was your routine.
Another sleepless night that is, you groan as you rub your temple from the head ache you were currently experiencing. You the (occupation) was known to always have active insomnia and this being in public views they treat you with care and respect. It was hard to join any match when you don't have enough sleep and yet you always manage yourself to win or escape reason why the people in the manor pay so much respect to you.
You heard the door open as you slowly eyed the door position, you recognized one of your closest friends which is the prisoner he was particularly ne win the manor and yet you two clicked like brothers and sisters. He was thankful that you were not someone who judge him by his bad past in fact you treat me like a normal person. You know fully well that everyone in the game or the people living in the manor are highly different and has all different, sad, confusing or many hard to forget past but one thing is for sure they were all trying to live in the future not the past.
" hey, I kind of know you will be here" the male said as he slowly made his way towards you with a short smile you placed your hand under your chin for comfortably support. You eyed him before he settles in the chair just right next to you. Another yawn was heard as you cover your mouth with your hand, he just smiled at you seeing how cute you were but the same time he was slowly starting to get really worried about you. You've been very tired in the last few days and now it was growing worst day by day.
" you didn't sleep again tonight??" he asked as you slowly settled your head on the table top, his hand automatically reaches out for your head as he pat you gently, you hum in agreement enjoying his soft touches. " did you ask Emily for new sleeping pills doze, this is really getting out of hand" he said as you slowly turned to him, you groan before speaking " sleeping pills is not doing anything now, my nightmares were worst now than before and I had no idea why" you pause as you shy your eyes away from him.
If there is one thing you hated the most is that you being a burden to anyone, in fact your nightmares was from your past where you were actually a burden to everyone, that time you were useless, clueless and very hopeless. Those bad and sad memories had been haunting you ever since but now a days your nightmares were worst that you cannot even have a blink of sleep.
" I thought I could skip todays match but we've been losing 4 matches straight now, we need to break the trail so the next matches won't be dragged down" you peak on your side as you talk to Luca, he nodded understanding the situation it was really a heavy pressure to play this part when you can't break the losing trail. Luca and you was the perfect decoding team, you two can do cipher rush and finish ciphers faster than anyone. This is why they always put you two together in matches to somehow build higher chances of winning.
"seriously you looked really tired and you badly needed sleep, take some rest after this match okay" the sound of his tone and the vivid concern lacing his voice made you feel comfortable. Luca was more than a friend to you, a brother just like that a person who takes cares of your when needed. He started acting one when you show the same interest in his works surprisingly you had the same brain level to understand his frustration in few of his failed works. And this being the way for you to openly communicate with him that resulted you two being closer than others.
" I still have match after this, but in the evening I will try to skip" the sound of your voice made Luca worried, you look pale and much more weaker today he was starting to notice this since you've been sleeping less in the last few days. He sigh as he gently pat your head once again, you slowly drift off to a short nap, he didn't dare make any noise since he understand how much you needed time for sleep.
Not long all your team mate arrives, one specific blue eyes eyed you with concern his face shows a bright smile and yet his mind was racing with thousands of concern questions. He comfortably sat on his chair as he plays with his juggling balls, but he took glances at your sleeping form every now and then. The door made a sound as the hunter walked into his chair; Joker was the hunter today and so with that Luca slowly and gently pats your shoulder.
Vera was already on Lucas side as she was fixing her perfume this completes the team for today's match. You groan as you slowly lift your face from the table, the visible red and pink marking on your cheeks was cute too cute for Mike, he observe as you slowly fixes yourself as he eyed your tired form. With that the room slowly fades into darkness, you spawn near the rocky walls of the Red Church, immediately running towards it.
You left out a short yawn before starting the cipher, Luca successfully connected your cipher with him and that made your cipher 20% faster in finishing. It only was 30 seconds as you and Luca finish the cipher together. But before you can even run to the next one you heard the alarm, Luca was incapacitated already. This made you worry a bit for him, you started running to the cipher next to the gates you hurriedly tried to reach it fast until you saw someone decoding there.
Vera swiftly turned to you as saw you running towards the place " y/n please finish this I will save Luca" with this you took over with the cipher, not long after you notice that Luca was already chaired you huff a breathe as you tried your best not to miss any calibration. Another cipher pop from the other side of the map making you realized that you never actually saw the one last final team mate you were playing today. And with that you pop the cipher one more and you can open the gates, your head suddenly started hurting to the point you finally collapse on the floor.
You supported your head with your hand as you slowly sat up leaning on one of the chairs for support, you took a really deep breathe before standing up you badly needed to finish the last cipher so you and your team can win this match. With a tired huff of breathe you started running towards the cipher, Luca was already our the chair and might be kiting the joker along with Vera. You mentally hope you can finish the cipher in time but before you can even touch the machine an alarm resounded again.
Luca was already on the chair again while Vera was incapacitated, panic took over you as you started running towards them surprisingly joker took them in the basement. " Focus on Decoding" Luca said in the earpiece, his time was running out and yet you wanted to do something about it not long Vera was already chaired too. You were about to run to them but a soft hand caught you off guard, your eyes widen when you realized who it was Mike was standing there with concern eyes.
" don't move, stay here and finish the cipher and I will save them" he turned to you gently before patting your head, even though your head is hurting you can clearly hear the loud banging of your heart. You had a big crush on the acrobat but he doesn't know about it at all, the only person who knows about this was your all so called brother Luca.
You nodded as you watch the male run his way towards the next building, you stood your ground waiting for the sign that they were already saved from the chair. Your head started to hurt once again as you squint hard as you were trying to see the red outline indicating the movement of your team mates.
" hurry please" Mike was true to his words, not long you noticed that Vera and Luca was both out the chair and with that as a sign you pop the cipher, you heard an alarm signaling someone was hit you abruptly turned around as you check who it was. Mike was terror shock and his tide turner was into play now, you run as fast as you can in the front gate opening it in the process. You then noticed Vera and Luca running behind you " go y/n" as you noticed that Joker was on pursue behind them.
" But Mike?, where is Mike?" Luca was fast to grab you putting you on his shoulder gently as he took you on the gate, you were in no condition to do a rescue even though your tide turner is still not being use, Luca won't risk you saving Mike there not when Jokers detention just activate not long ago.
With that you started to struggle from Luca's grip, you saw that Mike was already running out off time and with one final move Vera took you far enough to return to the manor. Mike was panting hard as he reach the gate where you just exit, Joker laugh maniacally as he slowly tried to trace his way towards where he hit the acrobat.
Mike successfully run towards the gate returning safely in the manor before his tide worn out he was really thankful it did last enough for him to reach the gate. With that he slowly faded into nothingness but he mentally note that he would want to see you right after he returns.
You along with Luca and Vera successfully arrived in the manor, Vera was fast to notice that you were not speaking or making any sound. " Luca, y/n is not even speaking is she alright?" Luca was stilled by the new found thought he slowly placed you down on the bed as the two hurriedly reached the doctors room. There they noticed your face blushing red and your whole body is burning hard with soft huff and pants they realized that you were convulsing.
" y/n are you alright can you hear me?" the prisoner gently shake you, but the sound of your hard panting is making them nervous, Vera was fast to think about the situation. " I'll go get Emily to check on her" surprisingly the good doctor was not on her room and so with that Vera semi run out the room to find the woman.
" y/n ughh this is the reason why I told you to rest for today" with that he gently put covers on your shivering body before walking into the sink and getting a clean towel and small bowl of water. He slowly made his way towards the sleeping girl as he carefully wipe you with the wet towel. The male mentally wish that this will somehow ease the burning feeling you are currently experiencing the same time he was hoping that Vera can find Emily in time.
Mike arrived in the manor, he was happy that the last match was a win than a draw he did everything he can for this match since y/n was there. This is a commitment he made with himself that whatever happens if y/n is in the match he needs to save her and make sure she will always be safe.
He was steadily walking his way in the halls when he saw Vera practically panicky running with a surge of curiosity he took the time to approach her. " Vera why are you running?" the acrobat ask, Vera was just as panic in state and mind " y/n collapse after the match and I am out trying to find Emily" with that Mikes eyes widen as his heard hurtfully thump inside his chest. " Where is she now?" the acrobat ask again, Vera took a deep breath as she wave her hand in front of her panting hard with all the running. " She's in the nurse office, Luca was there with her I'll go now did you by chance see Emily along the way?" the perfumer asked the male.
"No I just got back from our match so I haven't seen anyone yet" with that Vera sigh as she hurriedly bow and walk away from the scene " I'll go find her then" with that Mike was fast to run towards the said room. When he arrived in the room he slowly opened it revealing the sleeping girl in the bed. Luca was still wiping her face with wet towel and with the sound of the door Luca's eyed turn to seek the person in the door frame.
" Mike, good thing you are here I will need to go and inform about this to miss Night angle, y/n has a next match in few hours and I will ask miss Night tangle to give her some consideration this time. With that Mike slowly walk his way towards the bed, the girl who was laying in the soft mattress shows discomfort the way her brows knit is very obvious.
" Okay I will look after her" with that Luca slowly stood up as he place the towel back on the bowl, with that the prisoner slowly made his way out the door but not before saying something " I'll be back really soon please watch over her" and finally he was off the room. Mike was steady to walk his way towards your bed, the crunching face you are making is not something he was enjoying to see, there must be something that is bothering you and for once he never actually know what to do.
He then gently took the towels in hand as he slowly and gently dab you the wet towel, your face relaxes when he started doing so. He continues to do this and still no sign of Emily nor Vera. Slowly he places the towel on your head as he observed your facial reaction. You seem to relax a bit compared the moment he walked in, he just sat there in silence hoping that you will recover soon.
In your mind , it was really dark and it was really cold you were standing in the middle of nothingness and it slowly creeps you out. The endless field of black and hollowness was the perfect picture of your being useless, slowly your body started to shiver " help, I don't want this" your faint voice sounds but to no avail no one is coming.
You realized that you were all alone in this place, because you are the only useless being worth it to be in this dark place. The thought of you being here forever scared you so much and with that you collapse on the floor as you tried to hug yourself in a very comforting manner.
Your tears was falling like heavy droplets of rain but before you can even think of anything else, you felt something really warm inside your chest. A feeling that reminds you that you are needed, love and respected as you who you are. Your tears slowly stop as you eyed the whole black place in the end of it all stood a certain male who you recognized the most. You started running after him and when he was just few feet away from you, you loudly called unto him " Mike"
You slowly opened your eyes seeing and recognizing the ceiling you turned your head on the side, the whole place was already dark and the light brimming of the moon was enough to give you eyesight on the place. You know you were in the nurse office recognizing the placement of the beds as you slowly sit up, you felt something holding your hand so you took the time to turn your head and see who it was.
To your surprise Mike was holding gently into one of your hands, his face was laying on top of the bed as he sat on the chair next to your bed. You also noticed that Luca was on the sofa and Emily was on her table place. You slowly pat Mike's head as you gently yet lovingly pat him. You loved this guy so much, the adoration you felt towards the acrobat grows deeper every passing day and you were very thankful that he is someone you can actually rely. He gives you joy and smiles in the most gloomy and sad days of your time.
And this time he had saved you from the darkness you fear the most, you slowly smiled at the sleeping guy as you were about to pat him one more time. His head slowly rise to see your eyes, the sleepy rounded eyes made your heart flutter, he yawn not realizing the situation, you gently caress his cheeks and with that his eyes widen with sudden touch.
" Y/n?~!!!" Mike started but you hush him since you don't want to wake up the good doctor and your all so called brother, you smiled at him and nodded " what happened Mike?" you asked him your voice is comforting and it made him calm he slowly sat up on the side of you bed still keeping his hand on yours. " you collapse after our match and you fell asleep for 2 days now" his voice was waving. You nodded understanding the situation, two days?? It felt like eternity in that place you gentle let go of his hand as you wipe his cheeks.
" don't cry Mike" he was stunned but he was fast to talk " I am not crying" he said but before he can debate with you, he felt his eyes sting and the tears from his eyes falling to his cheeks. His heat never lies he was greatly scared to lose you and with that you smiled at him wiping his cheeks once more. " thank you Mike you really did help me there" he eyed you a bit before you opened your arms for a hug and just like that he slowly hugged you.
The comforting moment and the vividly loving smell from you was enough to make him fall asleep, you lay there gently stroking his hair as you hum him to sleep. This time your nightmares will never bother you again for he will always come to rescue you.
