The video wasn't playing for more than five seconds before i turn to everyone with straight seriousness. "Track em" i say, and everyone's on their feet. On their phones or on their computers they're typing away, finding anything related to them. Kevin sets up his camera, recording the message just in case it was deleted. The persons voice wasn't right, it was voice automated, meaning they didn't want us to know who it was. But something about it, was in the back of my head like i've heard them before. Something was familiar but i didn't know what. I run out my apartment, dashing across the hall, to Emily's room. I knock twice, nothing. Another time, nothing. "Emily?" I yell but noticing the door was locked so i couldn't get in. I take a few steps back, before running into the door, knocking it out of the hinges. "Oh fuck," i mumbled setting the door gently on the floor. Whoopsies. I look around the apartment similar to mine, but flopped. Shit this couldn't be good. I knock the girls door down and didn't even hear a screech. I pull my gun out slowly, clearing each room silently. I'm halfway across the living room when i hear someone creek behind me. I snap around only to see Sam standing there with wide eyes. I sigh in relief, dropping my weapon. "Dude you scared the hell out of me." I breathed out. "What are you doing? You know what, don't tell me, c'mon we have a lead." I jump up happily walking over to Sam. "She's not here?" He asks peering around. I shake my head and shrug. "Don't know where she is." He sighs and we place the door back over the frame. "I feel bad to whoever touches this next," he says as it wobbles in place. We run back to my apartment, everyone looks back at us weirdly. "Colby why are you covered in white powder?" Tara asks chuckling. "He was doing drugs," Sam says for me making the room laugh. "And you didn't share?" Kevin asked in disbelief as he shook his head. "Why would a dad approve of that?" Corey asked laughing remembering his whole fandom calls him dad. "Oh shit," he mumbled turning back around. "Cut the cameras" Kat said as laughter wove over us again. I sat back down, dusting myself off. Gosh, i love my friends. "Okay i have good news and bad news," Cassie said closing her computer slightly. "Bad news first." i said resting my arms on my legs. "Bad news is, we couldn't crack the voice commander, the type of coding they used... even if i did do it, it would take hours and maybe days to get it." Reggie said making me sigh into my hands, of course this would happen. "Good news though," Cassie started. "We know where they're heading next." My eyes widened. "Shit when and where?" I ask. "Not too far from here, and in half and hour." She responds with wide eyes. I jump up from my seat "shit what are we waiting for?!" I yell dialing Serena's number on my phone. "Someone get Brennen here asap," i yelled walking to my room for privacy. The phone picks up and it's almost like she read my mind. "Yea im coming over in ten, and i'm bringing my twenty seater, so we can all take one ride." She says before i can even talk. "Okay! Cool yeah i'm getting Brennen here so come asap." We talk for a bit more, thinking of how this would work before ending the call. I walk out my room with a huge smile on my face. "Suit up guys, we leave in twenty." The room cheers loudly and shouts echoed the walls before loud knocks come from my door. "HEY! CAN YOU KEEP IT DOWN?" We all shut our mouths quickly, giggling here and there. I flip everyone off as they giggle harder before going into my room. I come back out, our suits got updated to our liking, knowing us we got every update we could get. But we made out metal sterling silver, because even if J wasn't here, she would come back. And when she did we didn't want her to burn up. I kept her suit in the back of my closet, untouched unless it's by me, knowing someday she'll come back to wear it with us. I walk out to see everyone ready to go, Brennen met us in the garage, where we waited for Serena. She pulled up quickly giving us time to hop in, me taking passenger. "Where to?" She asks and i turn to Cassie. "Take the next right" she says from the back as we swerve over. "Serena, Reggie, Corey, and Devyn stay here, make sure the cars passing by aren't suspicious, and keep a low profile." I say looking to Jake, just making sure he agrees. He nods, telling me it's a good group for them. "Tara, Mike, and Kat stay on our rears, if it's up high or down low doesn't matter just stay close by." They nod at me. "And the rest of us?" Kevin asks from the back seat. I smirk slightly at them "you're coming with me." Kevin cheers happily, it's been a while since he's been up and running just because of work and stuff like that, he's super excited to get down on the field. We laugh at him shaking our heads slightly. "Next left then past second street. Then make a right and you'll be there." She nods and slows down slightly. "I'm dropping you guys a block down, we'll scout the area then pull up another block south." Serena says pulling over. We thank her before most of us get off. "Thanks mermaid," Aryia laughs hopping off. "Whatever boy who cried wolf." We chuckle at her before disappearing into the shadows, Mike goes high on one of the houses, leaving Kat and Tara to go left and right. "Everyone online?" Jake asks through his earpiece. "We're good here," Kat says. "All good in da hood homie," Corey laughs at us. We shake our heads disappointing before scouting out the area. "Perimeters clear from above," Mike says in a whisper. "Perimeters good on your left." Kat says. We wait for Tara to speak up, but we get nothing. "Tara?" Jake asks, we couldn't move on until we knew everything was okay to go. "Tara come in," i repeat before we all exchange looks and walk towards where she went. The silence was raw, scary even. We didn't dare take another step."I have caos running loose on my side, somethings happening behind the fence but i'm too short to look over." Tara says making us sigh in relief. "White van just scattered near Tara, i think she's near the issue." Serena told us making our eyes wide. "Tara get out of there," Jake said sternly, we got no response. "Tara do you copy get away from that house." I said with worry. "T?" Aryia asks just when a gunshot went off. We sprinted to the scene, trying to locate where the gunshot was made, and if Tara was hurt during it. "Don't move." Tara was heard over our ears making us stop running and collect ourselves. Thank God she wasn't hurt. "Tara! You didn't copy!" Jake practically yelled, i had to shush him to get him from blowing up. "The house to your right it where it came from, i couldn't say anything because i heard grunts then a gunshot, i didn't want them to hear." We saw Tara behind a trash can just a couple hundred feet from us. Jake ran after her, leaving the rest of us to check the scene. When we got closer we were able to hear what was happening clearer, but not fully. "Aryia translate." He nods before zoning out slightly. "The guys on the floor, whoever took him out did it hard." He paused before his eyes widening. "It's a girl, she's going to kill him." We run to the house frantically, before stopping at the bolted wooden fence. Whoever was here did not like visitors. "I got eyes, she's pulling a gun out now." Mike was heard, i look up to see him targeting his sniper, ready at the trigger. "Don't shoot unless i say." I say sternly and he nods. I look over to Brennen and see him already working on the door. "Already on it boss," the movement on the other side suddenly stops when the bolts start cracking to the floor with the tree vines. Before we hear a man yell out. "HELP SHES GOING TO KILL ME." We knock the fence down, the door collapsing to the floor. "Freeze!" I yell pulling my own gun out. The rest of us are already armed at the ready, not to mention the people surrounding. She mumbles something before throwing her hands up in defense and backing away from us. "We won't shoot unless we have to." I say as we slowly walk towards her. She wore a black skin tight suit, it looked like leather, but she wore a hood over her face, so we could only see her nose and down, along with a few stray strands flowing. I lowered my gun, signaling the rest of us to do so. And i see her smile lightly. "Should've killed me." She says before dashing.
