Chapter 34

Avery's P. O. V

     Angel and Mil are not home they went to write their last paper so I am left alone in the house. There is a knock on the door so I went to check who it was. When I opened the door, I saw Josh. He didn't wait for me to let him in or even wait for me to bang the door in his face, he pushed me and entered inside my room.

     "I don't remember telling you to come in", I said.

     " I didn't ask",he said.

    Breath in, breath out Avery, ignore him, whatever feelings you had for him died the day he insulted you, the day he lost trust in you, don't break down. Please be strong Avery. I said to myself.

   "So why are you here?",I asked.

   " You and your sister/Mil beat up my sister and she's badly injured",he said.

    "So? Did she tell you what she did?", I asked.

    " She didn't have to me, once she said it was you and Mil, I realised you both started it ",he said.

    " Are you for real? You know your sister started it, you know she has always hated me, she has always hated Mil so cut that bullshit out. You are mad at me, you want to get back at me, just do it okay, instead of beating around the bush",I said.

    "Ohhhh, you will get what's coming to don't worry about that, I will get you so bad that you will find it so hard to heal, I promise you Ev- Avery. You don't deserve to be given a nick name", he said.
Has it reached this extent? Does he hate me this much?

  " Here you are insulting me again, go ahead, what else is new? The empty threat? The insult? What? Tell me. Is it the maltreatment? I have experience them all,nothing is new. If this is what you came to my house to tell me then get your sorry ass out now",I yelled.

    "Or else what? What will you do?", he asked as he came close to me.

     " You can't hit a girl, so do your worst but mark my word you will regret it",I said as I walked backwards.

     "And who will make me regret it?", he asked.

     " I will. I will make you regret it if you don't get away from her",a voice behind Josh said. Josh and I turned back to see who it was. When we turned back, we saw Emmanuel, Dawns ex. Josh backed off.

     "What are you doing here?", he asked him.

     " Avery called me over",Emma said.

     "You know her?", Josh asked.

   " Yeah, we go way back",Emma said.

    "Leave ", I said pointing to the door. Josh looked at me, then at him then left.
Thank you Emma for coming earlier.

    I went to where Emmanuel stood and hugged him and he hugged me back. Then I pulled away and led him to the chair to sit down while I sit on the bed.

     "You okay?", he asked as he stood up and sat beside me.

     " I will be fine",I said.

    "That's not the question I asked you", he said looking me straight in the eye.

      " No, I am not. I feel like crying ",I said.

       " Fine, you can cry then",He said and I placed my head on his shoulder and cried.

     After a while, I wiped my tears with the handkerchief Josh gave me on our first date. I carry this handkerchief wherever I go, it's a reminder of how much he cares for me. I don't know why he is treating me this way but I know he cares for me deep down.

     "So are you okay now?", Emma asked me.

     " Yeah, I am. Thanks a lot ",I raised my head from his shoulder.

     " Why did you call me? I was so worried when you called me. We promised to call when we need each others help. So it must be serious ",he said.

      " Not really but I need you to find out everything about Mary",I said

      "Which Mary?", he asked.

     " This Mary(I showed him her picture on my phone) I think she is up to something, I don't trust her" I said.

      "She's Joel's cousin", he shocked me.

     " Joel's cousin? But he never told me. I need to know more about her. I think she is coming to get me but before she does, I intended bringing her down first",I said.

    "Sure, I will tell Pamela to look into her but it might take months, weeks, days or even year", Emma said.

     " Take your time but don't take too much time",I said and he nodded.

       "How is Pamela doing?", I asked.

     " Great, she has been asking of you. She will love it if you visit",he said.

      "After our last fight.... I don't think so", I said.

    " Please.....she's feeling guilty already. Please Bisi",he begged.

     "Fine. I have told you to stop shorten my surname.", I said.

    "But its cute", he smiled.

    " Yeah, right",I said and we laughed.

    "I miss you so much, Emma", I said.

    " I miss you more",he said and hugged me

    Emmanuel and I are really close friends. We weren't always close, we were enemies back then in secondary school, he bullied me, insulted me and ignored me just like Seb did. His younger sister Pamela and I were close buddies. Pamela is my age mate and was in the same class with me. She always stood up for me but everything changed when Pamela was seriously injured, Emma ran to me for help because he knew my dad was a medical doctor. To cut the long story short, my father saved her since then her family has been indebted to mine. Emma was dating Dawn when he tortured me, after my dad saved his sister, we became really close, he began to have feelings for me, he thought I felt the same way because of how close we were. He broke up with Dawn and started hitting on me. Pamela got angry that I didn't accept her brother, she hated the fact that I was in love with someone who didn't care about me, so we argued,she said things I hoped she didn't mean and we parted ways. She and Emma school in Monash South Africa.

       After Seb, Joshua's second pal is Emmanuel. They never attended the same secondary school yet they were really close, even without been in the same university I know they are still close. Seb, Emma and Joshua are the same age and inseparable.
