ever since i was little christmas has been my favorite holiday. i love everything about it, the movies, the music, the feeling of joy and happiness being spread, and of course the gifts. but this year i'm not really in the Christmas spirit.

my boyfriend, Shawn, won't be home this year for christmas. we always are together, well we usually are always together for christmas, so i'm a little bummed out that he won't be here this year.

"y/n, can you come help me wrap these presents?" my mom yelled from downstairs.

i trudged down the stairs to see her in the dining room surrounded by presents for the family.

"wrap these," my mom said pushing my little brother's gifts over towards me. i began to wrap the various toys and clothes in Santa claus wrapping paper.

"have you talked to Shawn lately?" my mom asked breaking the small silence between us.

"uh," i taped the wrapping paper down on the nerf gun box, "Yeah, he's really enjoying Singapore."

"that's good," my mom said setting the neatly wrapped gift for my dad in a stack with all the other ones.

"i guess." i sighed.

"he'll be home soon." she said trying to make me feel a little better.

"i know, but not in time for Christmas." i said disappointment dripping in my voice.

Christmas Eve with my family is filled with baking chocolate chip cookies with my little brother for him to set out of Santa while we listen to Christmas music. Then when we finish that, we watch our favorite Christmas movies.

I was in the middle of spraying the cookie sheet when the doorbell rang. I was curious to see who it was since we weren't expecting company especially at 8:30 pm. I dried my hands off and walked to the front door.

I opened the door to see shawn. I was in shock. I couldn't believe he was standing in front of me. He engulfed me into a hug. I hugged him back tightly not wanting to let go of him.

"I missed you so much," he whispered into my hair.

"I missed you too." I said resting my head against his chest.

"Told you he would be home soon." I heard my mom say from behind us. I pulled away from Shawn to see my mom standing beside the stairs with her arms crossed over her chest and a smile plastered on her face.
