14: The Days I Lost and Charity Made Me Win

Emil's POV

I tried giving her food again after that day, the next day, the next one, and the next one also. I would give it in her apartment, in her review center which I think made me look like a creepy stalker since I knew where she was reviewing, put the paper bag beside her in the library and even dropped a lot of food at the Moretti's house when she slept there for a night once. It was all for failure for all the food I gave her went to the poor so I made a plan the next day. I made the staff cook a lot of food and they started early for that. I told them to give them a raise when they finish cooking and so they worked. Once the food was done, we loaded everything in the truck and it ws time for dinner, we went around the town and gave everyone who needed food at each street and each house where anybody who needed a place to sleep were. We even gave food for the orphans and as the food we packed decreased more people ate. In doing this, I realized that it was good to do this kind of charity work. Perhaps I should start one where I would give free food to anybody who's hungry. I wasn't giving food just for Biya to not give the food I have given her to the poor, I felt better realizing that my staff and I have helped them get through the day. When we finished, I made John drive us to the review center and they dropped me off. With a paper bag containing the Magrandi, pasta, and salad, I waited outside. Time passed by and people who passed by began to recognize me. So I went to the corner and hid where the light didn't strike me. After 10 minutes waiting, people began to exit the building where she was reviewing and they all looked haggard but they were still talking. I spotted Elda but Biya was not with her. Then, I heard her. The door opened widely and her voice got louder mixed by another man's voice. Ezekiel. I began to walk towards them when I heard him say,

"Elda said you'll have dinner at your place. Can I come?" The man who touched her waist spoke. I gripped the paper bag tightly as I listened to the torturous conversation.

"Uhm... sure. Sure. I was planning on having pizza for dinner." Biya agreed and smiled at him. Pizza? That's not enough for her. She needed to eat more. She had lost weight and she needed the energy to study.

"Great! I'll just have a short meeting with the staff, get my things and I will drive you home." He said.

"I'll wait here." She said and Zeke disappeared. I sighed in relief and walked towards her.

"Emilio?" She asked as the light shined upon me.

"Hey." She looked confused as I approached her. I stood just at the first step of the stairs and looked up at her.

"What are you doing here again?" I showed her the paper bag and she let out a sound of disbelief.

"I know what you are thinking. This is creepy but I am just doing this for you. I want you to eat more since you need the energy to study. Please, Biya. Accept it." I started to climb the cemented steps until I reached her. I really want the best for her and my way of showing what I feel was food so it was what I was doing to her. I was hoping it would make a way for me to go back to her.

"Uhmm..." She began to think before she sighed.

"Okay." She took it.

"Thanks but this doesn't change anything." I knew that. If she put her heart into it, no one can change it.

"Yes. Of course." I turned around and went down the stairs.

"Good night." I spoke and she had a small smile. That was a first. She smiled at me again. Even though it was a small one, I was thankful for it. It made my chest lighter.
