The morning of the departure started off with The Hare in high spirits. At last the sandstorm had cleared up and they were going to be on the move again.

North and out of the desert; apparently the Magic Forrest was full of dangers, but The Hare was confident and cheerful to be moving towards a defined goal. In his mind it was simple - SC had told them if they wanted to return home, they had to reach Domain City, so that's what he was focused on. The rest was just details and The Hare had never been one to mull on the long term - no, he focused on what was immediately ahead and got on with it, knowing in his heart that things would fall into place when they needed to.

His cool future self was good at organizing which took the pressure off, somewhat. Hare was happy to follow the lead of Future Hare and indeed, was occupied by no more deep and meaningful a thought, than whether he should start wearing an eye patch on his return home - this, despite the fact that unlike his long haired future self, he actually had two good working eyes.

Pegasus and Icarus would accompany them North; another fantastic idea by himself. Future Hare had chosen a small party of Hellz Rabbitz and when they reached the forest, the non uprights would be flown safely over on Pegasus's back. Hare had convinced Jessica she would be best off with George and the critters while the trained fighters and skilled athletes like himself ... twice, traversed the area on foot.

Soon they would be off and The Hare was up at the crack of dawn for once. He had already visited Pegasus in the stables, had breakfast with the Goose and gathered his gear together in a large pack. He had expected his future self to be up and about as well, but there had been no sign of him. Not to worry, he was probably oiling his guns or planning the route in his chambers.

So The Hare, with a spring to his step, bounded down one of the passages of the pyramid and without so much as a by your leave, pushed open the door and went inside to find ...

Cottontail started and covered her breasts with her arms. 'What the hell?'

The Hare stood transfixed. 'Uh, I ... uh ...'

Future Hare emerged from an alcove, his hair dripping wet and only a thick bath towel wrapped around his waist. Again The Hare enviously noted how buff his future self was. Strangely enough, he still had his cigar clamped between his lips.

'Get out!' screamed Cottontail as The Hare's eyes wandered back to her tawny body with it's surprisingly perky bosoms. They were small but very rounded - Jessica was much more voluptuous.

'I said GET OUT!!!'

The Hare stuttered an apology and retreated. Inside he could hear his future self laughing while Cottontail's voice rose with outrage. Something smashed and The Hare gave a sympathetic shudder, imagining Future Hare dodging a vase hurled by the pissed off Cottontail.

'Well I never,' he muttered as he walked away. 'Me and Cottontail? I never would have guessed. Well done Me ... I deserve some happiness after losing Jess.'

All of a sudden a heavy weariness came over The Hare. He felt a deep and unrelenting sadness as image after image of Jessica flashed through his mind. The Hare knew he was heartsick and there was only one cure.

'When all this is over,' he muttered, 'When we've saved the world, I'm going to win her back. I'm going to tell Jessica I love her!'
