Their entry into Cair Paravel was easier than expected.

A large medievil festival of sorts was taking place and with Professor Ketterley and The Bulgy Bear vouching for the group, it was a mere matter of minutes to pass through the gates and slip away from the throng. In a quieter corridor the group split in two with The Glass Cat leading his contingent upwards towards Ketterley's tower while Bulgy directed The Hare and others towards the lower level, with Griffin going ahead as an advance scout, acting on knowledge that the ursine Narnian had imparted.

As there were hardly any talking cats left in Narnia, the grey tabby was virtually ignored by the guards along the way, who assumed he was merely a dumb beast.

As for the other cats - the upright supercats had acquired armour and helmets with a Calormene style silk gauze to wrap around their faces. They were taken for Ketterley's escort and carried a large crate between them (Cosmo or Atom could easily heft said crate individually but it wouldn't do to openly display their super strength). Inside the crate was the so called 'weapon' that Griffin had still failed to see, even when the crate was partially opened to allow Bungle, the Goose and the Cheshire Cat to conceal themselves inside.

Renard and Moriarty walked alongside the Professor, engaged in a sham of conversation for the sake of appearances - to anyone taking notice, it would merely seem as if a noted member of the Narnian court were conversing with his guests.

Punchinello had also been within the crate to start, but as soon as the group were clear of onlookers, he had hopped out to lead the way, just in case Andrew Ketterley decided to pull a fast one and take them someplace other than his tower rooms. Being a coward at heart and with his own self preservation top of his agenda, the Professor had so far done everything that had been asked of him, so the likelihood of his making any sort of move was minimal. In fact Ketterley fully intended to cooperate and see the whole thing through, hoping that once the Glass Cat got what he was after, they would leave him alone!

And so it came to pass that they did indeed find themselves within Ketterley's chambers and seconds after being prodded by Atom, the wildly white haired old boy, pausing only to don his spectacles, began rummaging through the back of an old chest and produced a locked box. Within the box lay five emerald rings.

'There! You have what you want, now leave me alone!' he declared in a voice mixing fear with slight hesitant defiance.

The Glass Cat merely smiled. 'Rings of green are no good without their yellow counterparts, so we must wait and count the minutes until our companions return with the Gingerbread Man and then we shall indeed part!'

Ketterley nodded glumly and collapsed into his favourite armchair. He didn't know exactly what the cat wanted, but he did know his rings were potentially an invention that could rock this and other worlds to their very foundations!
