We stood in the lobby of the restaurant holding our leftovers and watching the rain pour down.

"I'll bring the car around." my dad said. He walked out of the door and did a quick jog through the rain to the car.

"Damn." said Dylan.
"Thought it was just supposed to drizzle." said Tristan.
We all stared at how hard the rain was coming down.

I felt eyes on me.
I looked to my left.
Adaeze and Dylan were staring at me.
I looked to my right.
So was Tristan.
I sighed.

"Alright! I'll go get the car." I groaned.
I pushed through the door and walked in the rain.

It's cold.
My dad pulled the suv up to the door so my mom and brother could get in.

I finally got in my car and turned it on.
The air came on full blast and I almost died of shock from being wet and cold.

I turned it off then drove up to the door so everybody could get in.

"Thank you," said Adaeze.
"You're welcome."
"Thanks, man." said Dylan.
"Shut the hell up." I responded and drove off.

~

Fuck those guys.

I went through another coughing fit that ended with a sneeze.

"Aww..." Adaeze said. "Do you want some tea?"
"No, come here." I stated.
She'd been keeping me company in my room since I had a cold. I told her that if I got her sick next, I'd wait on her hand and foot. It's the only reason she really agreed to be in here.
She left my desk where she was working and came to crawl into my bed.
When she was situated I wrapped my arms around her waist and laid my head on her stomach.

"I don't feel good..." I stated.
"Aww, ololufe..." she ran her fingers through my hair while I laid there. "You need medicine."
"No..."
"Don't be a baby."
"I'm not. It just tastes gross."
I don't take medicine. I haven't taken medicine since I was like 7. It's gross and I don't like gross stuff. Get me medicine that tastes good and maybe I'll consider it.
"You're not supposed to like it. It's herbs and vitamins not candy." she argued.
"Still."
"I am going to go get you medicine." she said and started pulling my arms off of her.
"Nooo...whyyyy? You don't need to. Where are you going?"
"I will be right back." She got out of the bed and walked to my door.
I watched her leave.

I sighed in defeat.

What is this feeling? Abandonment?
It's like she left me for dead.
So lonely.
How can anyone survive under these conditions?
I was recently so warm. Now I'm so cold.
You see it as her going downstairs to raid the medicine cabinets. I see it as her finding my body in the middle of the woods, bleeding from several wounds, and just walking away. Leaving me to die.

I coughed.

It's a cruel world.
One that's only intention has been my demise.
And soon I fear it'll win.

Is that the light?
Has my time come to pass?
Who knew this would be how it ends?
At least...I died...with...a hot girlfriend.

Regardless of if she was the one to leave me for dead. Still hot.

"I found two." she said when she came back but I was already dead.

"Come on, sit up." she stated.
I groaned.
"Up." she repeated and I pulled myself up.
I kicked my feet off the bed to sit on the side of it in front of her.
She stood in between my legs while she read the bottle of cough syrup and then the pill box.
I wrapped my arms around her waist and laid my head against her chest.
It was like a pillow.

"I brought you juice in case you don't like it." she stated.
"Really?" I asked and looked.
There was a cup of juice on my nightstand. Awesome.

"Which one?" she asked.
I looked up at her. She was holding the medications.
"You have to choose." she stated.
I sighed and just chose the pills. At least most times you can't taste those.

I tore it open and the pack said to take two so I did.

I popped them both and she handed me my juice. I drank it to wash them down.
"Do you ever get scared that we don't make out enough?" I asked her.
"You kiss me all the time."
I put my glass back on the nightstand. "Yea, but what if it's not enough? What if my lips are forgetting what yours feel like right now as we speak?"
"Then it makes the next one more special because they'll finally remember." she answered.
That was deep.

"I'm not kissing you." she stated.
"What?! Why not?!"
"You are trying to get me sick."
"Nooo..."
"Yeeesss...lay down."
"On you?" I asked.
"Yes."
I mentally cheered and got out of her way so she could get back in my bed.

She got in and I laid back on her like I did earlier.
I've been revived and given a second chance at life.
