"Did you like it?" I asked as we left. We walked around for twenty more minutes after we got our drawing.
"Yes, they were all so talented." she stated.
"Good. Can I ask you a question?"
"Mhm." she answered and stood there waiting for it.
"Have you ever had frozen yogurt?"
"Um...I think we have it but I have never tried it." she stated.
"Do your feet hurt?" I asked her.
"No." She shook her head.
"There's a frozen yogurt place just up the street that me and my family always go to. It's really good. And it's walking distance from here."
"Really?"
"Yea, do you wanna try it?" I offered.
"Yes." She smiled.
I smiled back. "Okay."

I led the way in the direction and she walked alongside me.

She still had our drawing in her hand. I asked her if she wanted to fold it and put it in her purse but she said she didn't want the folded creases to mess it up.

When we arrived at the place, I opened the door for her to walk into the bright building.
"Thank you." she stated.
"You're welcome."

"Welcome!" said the employee.
"Thank you." Daisy replied with a smile.

I led her to the wall with all of the flavors.

"Okay, so you can grab whichever cup size you want." I stated.
"Um...But what if I don't like it?"
"You can try it first, if you want." I stated.
She stared at them.
"We can...share one..." I offered awkwardly.
"Okay." she smiled at me.
Surprised that worked.

I grabbed the large cup. I figured extra large would be too big.

"How many flavors do you want?" I asked her.
"Umm..." She went through to read all of them.

"What is this?" she asked and pointed.
I looked. "Dulce de leche. It's good."
"That one. I like its name."
I snickered. "Alright."
I pulled the lever to pour it into the cup. "Is that it?"

She kept walking.

"This." she stated.
She pointed at the one labeled cake batter.
I put that one in too.
"Is that it?" I asked.
"A little bit of this one." She pointed.
It was cinnamon roll.
"I'm starting to think you're just throwing in whatever."
She looked at all of them one more time. "Yes."
I laughed.

She stood next to me and looked.
"Gummy bears." she said almost immediately.
I snickered. "You must really like gummy bears."
"They're cute."
"Anything else?" I asked her.
"No."
"Okay. Come on."

We walked over to the register and I set the cup on the scale.

"10.25." said the cashier.
I took out my card and swiped it.

I spent less than I thought I would today. Altogether it was somehow just 100 dollars. Dinner was pretty pricey.

I grabbed two spoons.

The cashier handed me my receipt. "Have a good one."
"Thanks, you too." I told her.

We headed out and I handed Daisy her spoon.
"You get the first scoop." I stated and let her hold the cup.
"No, we have to try it at the same time." she argued.
I snickered. "Okay."
We both got a spoonful.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yea."
She put it in her mouth first and then so did I.

Surprisingly all of her flavors went well together.
"Mmm!" she said happily and looked at the cup.
"You like it?" I smiled.
"Yes!" She took another spoonful and ate it. "So good."
I'm gonna bang my head against the wall, I swear to god. She's so cute, I can't do this anymore. I can't live like this. My time is up. It's over.

"Excuse me!" we heard and turned our heads.

There was some guy standing there leaning against a convenience store wall with two of his friends.

"That your girl?" he asked me.
I didn't know how to answer that.

"What you doin' with that white boy, ma?!" his friend asked.
"He don't know what to do with all 'at!" the other guy yelled.
What the fuck?
"Yo, what the fuck is your problem?" I asked.
"Relax, Connor. We're just fuckin' with you. Your girl bad." he stated.
"Bad as fuck." said the third guy.
"Do not talk about me like I'm a piece of meat, you dirty buffoon." Adaeze spoke up.
My eyes widened.
"You keep your disgusting thoughts behind that crooked hairline, whether I'm with a white boy or not."
"Yo, who the fuck is she talkin' to?" the guy in the center asked the other ones.
"I am talking to you. Your teeth and your hairline are matching. Both lean to the left."
I choked.
"I know your black mother did not teach you to talk about black women in that way. Maybe if you spoke with respect, you wouldn't be standing outside smelling like cigarettes and poverty!"
"Who the fuc-..."
He got off the wall to approach her and I quickly stepped in front of her.

"Back up, bro." I stated.
We stood face to face.

"It's three of me and one of you." he stated.
"Cause you wouldn't win by yourself."

We heard a warning siren and saw red and blue lights on the building.

I turned around.

"You boys alright?" the cop asked out the window.
"We good, officer!" the guy stated.
But the cop didn't leave.

Him and his friends glared at me then walked away.

I went back to Adaeze and grabbed her hand so we could walk back to the car.

The cop drove off and I unlocked my car.

Fucking weirdos.
