The next morning, on Christmas day, Abby was not in the mood for anything

She sat on the sofa, clutching Theo in her arms, shedding silent tears

She was aware that every year, she experienced the same overwhelming emotions, yet she never held back her tears

In the evening, Abby decided to venture outside aimlessly

Sometimes, she would smile at the sight of happy families, even though she had never experienced such joy herself

Unconsciously, she found herself making her way to the beach, standing there and gazing into the distance, her mind filled with a barrage of thoughts

Her gaze shifted to sky and she mumbles

"I've often wondered why I've never had a family or siblings,"

she mused, her voice tinged with sadness.

"And a best friend who truly understands and comforts me, that's something I've never experienced either."

A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she continued,

"It's like I've always felt unworthy and useless, you know? As if nobody really wanted to be around me. All these questions just keep swirling around in my head."

Tears welled up in her eyes, finally spilling over as she whispered,

"And now, here I am, with tears streaming down my face."

Lost in her thoughts, Abigail was taken aback when someone hugged her from behind

The unexpected encounter left her shocked and uncertain

Scarlett had never wanted to meet her family during Christmas, but due to certain family obligations, she had to go every year

This time, however, when she saw the sadness in Abigail's eyes, she felt an ache in her heart

It pained her to see Abigail not feeling well

Despite spending Christmas Eve with her family, Scarlett couldn't bear to stay any longer and lied, claiming she had urgent work to attend to

She hurried back to her apartment, hoping to find solace at home

To her dismay, when Scarlett entered her darkened apartment, she called out for Abby but received no response

She dialled Abigail's phone and, to her surprise, heard it ringing in the drawing room

Scarlett picked up the phone, gripping her head with her hand, and began muttering,

"Where are you, Abigail?"

Her eyes caught sight of the phone screen, and a glimmer of hope sparked within her

Abby's words echoed in her mind—she had found comfort on this beach every time

Scarlett rushed outside the house and got into her car, accelerating towards the beach

With a sense of urgency, Scarlett searched everywhere, desperately seeking Abigail

Finally, her gaze landed on her, standing alone on the beach in the cold season, wearing only a hoodie and shivering

Scarlett ran towards Abigail, engulfing her in a tight embrace

She could feel Abigail's entire body shaking with the contact, the physical manifestation of her emotional distress

"Abigail,"

Scarlett said, holding her tightly in the midst of the falling snowflakes

"Why did you forget your phone at home? I looked everywhere for you,"

and Scarlett stop talking as the sight of Abigail's tear-stained face with her head lowered shattered Scarlett's heart into pieces

She held Abigail even tighter, gently patting her head

Abigail's sobs echoed in the quiet winter air as Scarlett held her even closer, her voice softening

"Shhh, it's alright. I'm here now."

Scarlett gently patted Abigail's head, her touch offering a sense of comfort

Summoning her strength, Abigail managed to ask through her tears,

"Why are you here, Scarlett? Shouldn't you be with your family?"

Scarlett smiled softly and tenderly placed her hand on Abigail's cheek, her eyes full of warmth.

"Abigail, I am with my family,"

she said with sincerity

She reached into her pocket and retrieved a delicate necklace, its pendant shaped like an infinity symbol – a representation of an unbreakable bond

With careful hands, Scarlett fastened the necklace around Abigail's neck, the pendant resting against her collarbone

Leaning in, she planted a gentle kiss on Abigail's forehead, her voice carrying a heartfelt wish,

"Merry Christmas, Princess. You're not alone, and you never will be."

"Abigail, you're shivering,"

Scarlett observed with concern

Swiftly, she took off her own jacket and gently draped it around Abigail's shoulders, ensuring she was enveloped in its warmth

With a determined yet caring expression, Scarlett guided Abigail towards the waiting car

Her voice held a promise of happiness as she said,

"We have some wonderful plans for this Christmas, and I don't want you to catch a cold. Let's head to the car, and we'll make this holiday joyful and unforgettable together."
