Y/N stood next to her brother's car. The race track on a Friday was popping. Everybody and their mama were out. The summer weather was upon the urban city allowing her to express herself more.

She leaned against the red Maserati enjoying the view. Her older brother, Rashad tugged at her crop top.

"Don't ever wear this shit again. You gotta hella niggas eyeing you. I don't like that." He spoke with an attitude.

Y/N rolled her eyes but pulled her jacket closed, "Shad, you ain't my daddy."

"Would y'all stop arguing?" The middle brother, Andre asked snapping videos of other cars.

Y/N sighed ignoring both of them. She patted her face feeling the slight sweat from the heat. The sounds of tires and engines made her smile. It dropped seeing a blue Mustang pull up.

Rashad stepped in front of her blocking her view. Andre posted up feeling the tension. Y/N pulled on Rashad's tee shirt.

The passenger window of the Mustang rolled down revealing Victor, the leader of the white street gang.

"The fuck y'all doing here?" Rashad asked.

Victor smiled but Y/N could feel the evil radiating from him, "Man, we racing just like y'all. Got a problem? We can handle that."

"Just stay out of the way."

Victor chuckled before eyeing Y/N behind Rashad, "Your sister is cute."

Y/N gulped staring into the window. Another mystery man sat in the driver's seat looking forward.

"I swear to God if you bring her up again you got hot metal coming at you."

"Shad just chill," Y/N whispered looking around.

The mystery man interrupted, "We'll move around."

Y/N felt her stomach jump when he nodded at them before pulling off to the other side of the track. She could see him shouting obscenities at Victor for trying to cause trouble.

"Them fucking white gangs man. Why can't we have the track to ourselves? They always somewhere, where we wanna be." Andre said slamming the car door shut.

"Aye, watch it!"

Y/N looked through the crowd. The mystery man from earlier was now leaning against the car conversing with people. She looked away when he noticed her staring. She turned her attention to her brother's girlfriend, Amber.

"Hey sis," Y/N spoke hugging her.

Amber smiled showing her braces, "You look so pretty."

Y/N smiled, "Nah that's all you."

"No, she's doing way too much," Rashad mentioned pulling on Amber's waist.

Y/N rolled her eyes. She watched as Amber cradled her pregnant belly. Wanting to get away from the couple she cleared her throat, "Amber, do you want something babe?"

"Oh, can you see if they have any honey buns?"

Y/N nodded making her way across the yard where people sold snacks. The line seemed long but Y/N didn't mind. By the time she got to the front shots rang through the crowd. Y/N ducked trying to move out of the way.

"Move!" Some random yelled pushing her to the ground.

Y/N fell to her knees covering her head. The bullets continued to fly hitting bodies in the crowd. She lifted her head slightly searching for her brothers. Y/N felt tears pool into her eyes when she didn't see them.

A cold hand lifted her to her feet. With blurry vision, she felt them guiding her to a car. The muscular body shields her from the chaos. The car looked familiar but she couldn't seem to recognize it. She tried to suppress her gag as the car raced away leaving tire marks on the track.

"Please don't throw up in my car." The British accent made her come back to her reality.

"I'm sorry, it's the adrenaline," Y/N said panicked as she tried to look in the rearview mirror.

"Don't worry about it. Just breathe." Oakley looked over at her and then back to the road.

He pulled at her chin forcing it to the front. Y/N closed her eyes and leaned back against the chair. "I am breathing!"

He laughed as he pressed his foot on the gas. Y/N's eyes opened wide when she felt her phone ring, "Oh no. You gotta drop me off. I can't be seen with you."

"It's not like I'm driving a fish bowl."

Y/N cut her eyes at him, "Just be quiet."

Y/N answered her phone. Andre was on the other line breathing heavily, "Where the fuck are you?"

Y/N looked towards Oakley, "I'm fine. I'll be home soon. Is Rashad alright?"

Andre hesitated, "Amber got shot, man."

"What?"

"Listen shit happened so fast. She's at the hospital. Shad is on ten. The motherfucker thinks them white folk shot her but everybody was shooting."

Y/N sighed feeling a pain in her chest, "Just lay low. I'll call you when I'm back home."

Andre was quick to cut her off, "No. Don't go home. It's too hot right now. Go someplace else."

Y/N pulled her phone from her ear once he hung up. She tossed her phone into the cup holder and looked down at her lap. She grimaced seeing a blood stain on her knee. "Fuck."

"You alright?" Oakley asked pulling up to the train tracks.

"I'm fine. You can let me out here." Y/N opened the door breathing the fresh air.

Oakley followed her to the passenger side. Y/N flinched slightly at his darkness. She eyed his tattoos and the way his hair covered his face. He was gorgeous but dangerous. Oakley's face softened.

"I'm not gonna hurt you." He spoke warmly.

Y/N shook her head rubbing her cold arms. "Just don't follow me, please. Y'all have already done enough."

He winced at her words, "Alright. Stay safe, Y/N."

She cocked her head to the side, "How do you know my name?"

"I know a lot about you darlin." He smiled leaving her breathless.

And at that moment she knew she'd see him again. She disappeared into the night with butterflies in her stomach.
