It's possible for parents to separate and divorce while not hating each other

It's possible for parents to separate and divorce while not hating each other. Hana was only a toddler when hers divorced, but she knew both parents' priorities were their four children and preserving their happiness.

Hana was to live with her father alongside her eldest sister, Angela. After the divorce, Jiyong decided for his sake, as well as his two daughters, to move back home- Seoul, Korea.

From there, life was great for Hana.

Her father is a hard-working man, but he was still present as he balanced work and his daughters. His job paid well, to say it with humility, and Hana never wanted much more than more time spent with her busy but loving father.

Angela was her best friend at home while a fashion designing genius at work. Though there was a large fifteen-year gap between the sisters and Angela filled in a motherly role while their father was working, the two were stuck together like glue. Hana wants to be just like Angela- always has.

Hana was only meant to be in the US for a few weeks- long enough to visit her mother and other sister, Tina, in Michigan, and then her 'trying his best' brother in Georgia, Glenn. When the dead began to walk, returning to Korea was a lost cause. Now, Hana, her eldest sister, and her only brother were together in a city long gone with no chance of finding their parents or fourth sibling.

An issue that arose from this, however, was Hana's lack of English skills. Unlike her siblings who were raised in the US, Hana moved to Korea when she was two. Of course, this made Korean her first, and only, language.

As fate would have it, there are still good people in the world who help when it's needed most. People willing to sacrifice their lives for one another. It was a diamond in the in the dirt, rare as ever to find. And yet, Hana was found by it in the lowest of times.

This is Hana's story.
