T-Dog drove us out of the city as quickly as he could.

Glenn translated what he could understand himself considering the events.

A virus of sorts, turning people cannibalistic while not being people at all as they only started to bite people once they died.. and then came back to life.

And it was later that night, we stayed in the van, trying to drown out the sounds.

"Shh.. Shh.. Just stay down," Glenn comforts, keeping my head to his chest, trying to cover my ears.

But, every so often, the sounds of more bombs being dropped onto the city we just escaped from echoes, causing all four of us to jump.

--

"Jim says that we should be able to move again soon," Glenn informs.

I nod from my place sat on the side of the road, looking over to where Jim was working under the hood of T-Dog's van.

"Where do we go after this?" I ask.

"That.. That hasn't been decided," Glenn sighs, moving to sit beside me.

I only nod once more, staring at the road under us.

"Are you okay?" he asks, "I know.. I know that's a dumb question but-"

"Angela died saving someone," I say.

Glenn goes quiet, watching me carefully.

"She saved Jim. Now, Jim is saving us with the van. She almost saved his wife and son, too," I remember, the events of days ago that were too new to forget so easily.

Glenn forces a smile, rubbing my back.

"Angela didn't die for nothing. She was a hero," I state.

"She was," Glenn agrees.

"It was a good death.. Grandfather would say some kind of moral story about the blessings and finding the good. But, I just know my sister was a hero and she wouldn't want me to be hurt when it was for a good cause."

"You really have grown up a lot," Glenn breathes out a laugh.

"It's because I spend most of my time with grandfather and grandmother when dad is working. Then, it's usually just dad, Angela, and I. I think our grandparents are rubbing off on me."

At the thought of the rest of the family back home, I couldn't deny the ache in my chest. Glenn tried his phone all night, but no call was going through- not even local calls as he attempted to contact his boss.

I couldn't help but wonder if we would just never know what happened to the others.

Instead, I lost Angela and was here with Glenn. Glenn who I haven't seen in person in years and only spoke to over the phone. Though he was family, it was clear there was a sense of tension made by the years of distance.

But, the bond was still there as Glenn could see my thoughts growing more distant, wrapping his arms around my shoulders in a side hug.

We stay in this position, watching Jim work on the van until the rustling of leaves is heard from the tree behind us. Glenn jumps up, helping me stand and pushing me into the van as T-Dog raises his gun to the woods.

Two men emerge, each carrying weapons of their own, and again, I couldn't understand their words.

"We ain't mean no trouble. We were just hunting and saw you out here," one says.

T-Dog lowers his gun, apologizing, "Sorry.. Sorry. We just got out of the city a few days ago, still jumpy, you know?"

"Y'all heard that, too? We didn't see anything, but we heard it," the same one shakes his head, "Sounded like my old military days."
