Dan took a step forward.

"This is the beginning of your eternal torment, there is no escaping it."

"There is no bright future for you so it's better you just die here."

"No one wants you because you're a monster—and that's exactly why you're here, " Dan continued.

"Why would anyone love a monster?"

"Your adoptive parents certainly didn't."

The boy's head lowered.

"So you're saying at this point you're in, you still have nothing to live for? Not even someone?" The boy stated quietly.

"She's dead, " Dan answered quietly.

"Who was she? A friend?" His interest peaked.

"She was more than that, " Dan said.

"I thought you said there were no good things in your life."

Dan was silent.

"Did she love you?" The boy looked up.

"Yes, " Dan answered.

"Then I won't simply die or give up, I'd like to meet her."

"What's her name?"

"Lily, " Dan said in a whisper.

"The perfect flower," the boy said.

"I'm sure she's beautiful."

Dan closed his eyes.

"You don't deserve her, we don't deserve her."

"Oh?"

"Judging from your tone and expression, things didn't go so well between you two?"

Dan averted his eyes.

"It'd be better if you never met."

"We're monsters, monsters don't deserve love."

"Is that what you told yourself?" The boy asked.

"It's the truth, the sooner you realise that the better, " Dan replied.

"And how has that ideology been working out for you?"

Dan's eyes flashed and he slammed the boy into the wall.

Dan's demonic eyes stared into the boy's hazel ones.

"You have boring eyes," Dan stated.

"I'm you, remember?" The boy choked out.

"You don't say."

Dan's hand tightened around his neck.
"I'm going to kill you."

"It's something I should have done a long time ago."

"You don't deserve to live, Daniel, " Dan said quietly.

"I'll save you from the misery of living, of becoming like me."

The boy's eyes lowered.
"I'll never become like you."

There was a pause.

Dan whispered in his ear.
"Is that so?"

"Very soon, very very soon, the next time they release you from your dog cage, do you know what you're gonna do?"

There was silence.

"You're going to disembowel each and every one of those pigs that put you in here, including little Katie."

The boy's eyes widened.
"No, get out of my head."
