"Mark?" Y/N breathes, clenching their teeth.
"Yes, buttons?" They curse their next question, psyching themselves up.
"Do- friends normally do this sort of thing?" Mark stares up at the sky, humming as he continues to rub their arm.
"Let me answer a question with another question: does it matter what the normality is?" He challenges, Y/N pausing to think on it.
"I suppose not, does it?" They settle, nodding. "Everyone is different. All that matters is that we are okay with it, " Y/N tilts their head up slightly, gazing at him. "You're okay with this right?" Mark nods sleepily, smiling to himself.
"I am. Are you?" Y/N hums, grinning.
"Yes, " They answer simply, slowly sitting up, propped over Mark. He looks back at them with a content but unreadable expression, Y/N blaming it on his tiredness. "Can I tell you something, Mark?"
"Of course, " Mark assures, touching their cheek soothingly. "Anything, " Y/N focuses on his eyes, pausing to absorb the moment. His skin was warm and welcoming against their own, the comfortable breeze kissing their still slightly damp skin. Marks eyes were a soft brown color, eyelashes fluttering in a sleepy manner.
"Tonight has been amazing, " Putting their head back on Marks's chest tiredly, they sigh, letting their eyes shut against the stars above them. "I don't ever want it to end."
Of course, the night had to end. The moment was gone, but a brand new moment started the next day. Y/N had an oddly peaceful night sleep for being out of their comfort zone, at first unsure of it all. But once they went to sleep, they stayed asleep until just after 9, the breeze kissing their arm that was bared, shivering slightly. The next thing they knew, their arm was covered up, making Y/N remember what happened last night and how wonderful it made them feel. They turn over, humming sleepily as they protest the sunlight piercing through their eyelids.
"I'm sorry- I'm sorry, " Y/N hears Mark whisper, then realizing he was climbing back into the bed of the truck, making them blink awake.
"Wh-What-?" They grumble, shielding their eyes.
"It's okay- lay back down- I was setting up the shade, " He breathes soothingly, Y/N squinting as they see his contraption for the back of it: basically a tent over the bed, pulling it over then, easing their eyes. "Sorry. I was so busy looking at the stars last night to think about the sun, " Mark hums, sitting back down next to them as they watch him in a tired daze. "It's okay, " He assures comfortingly, suddenly reaching out, making them think it really was a dream. Mark gently brushes their cheek with his fingers, looking down at them so lovingly that it made their heart race, wondering how dreams did that.
"You're even more-" Handsome, their mind finishes, but they wake up slightly then, blinking rapidly. "Thank you- what- what time is it?" They ask, sniffling.
"Just about 9:30. But please, go back to sleep if you're still tired okay?" Mark traces the tips of his fingers over their cheekbone mindlessly, studying them. They think about saying something, but instead, stay silent, eyes fluttering as he glides his fingers gently, letting their eyes shut and just feel it for a moment. It was almost relaxing- they were a little startled from the sunlight then to Mark quickly fixing it, then suddenly Mark was stroking their face so carefully, like they would shatter if he pressed too hard. Y/N sighs softly, actually becoming sleepy again to their surprise. There was something about Marks's touch that put them at ease, knowing they were safe and sound with him.
