august 20, 1977

After Sirius woke up and was delivered the news they managed to shake James back down to reality, though it was about midday when they finally did.

"So we need to go to Diagon Alley for the books, right?" Sirius asked as they all sat around the table eating a late breakfast

"I can go" James spoke up

"He speaks!" Sirius threw his hands up

"We all can go" Remus said

"We can't all go, it would attract way more suspicion" Selene corrected him

"I will go" James said again

"No, I will" Selene cut him off

"No way you're going" Remus scoffed

"Remus I'm not a child." she rolled her eyes

"I don't care what you are, it's too dangerous!" he countered, raising his voice

"I can wear a disguise, get the books and leave, it shouldn't be longer than an hour or two."

"No Selene, it's you they want! I'm saying no, it's just not safe." Remus put his foot down

"Who said it was your decision?" she scoffed "And even so why don't you trust me? What's a small trip to Diagon Alley in retrospect to everything we handled this summer?" she shot back

"You had us then to help." the boy knew how it sounded the second he said it. Selene scoffed again louder this time,

"Are you really saying you're so much better than me? That this whole summer, I was just laying like some damsel in distress ready for you to save?" her voice rose

"Stop twisting my words, you know I didn't mean it that way"

"Oi!" Sirius yelled. "Shut up!"

"Selene, he isn't saying you're helpless, he's saying there was five death eaters against five of us, it doesn't matter how good of a witch you are you won't win that fight alone, none of us would." she crossed her arms in annoyance

"Remus, if there's one thing you know about her, it's how she managed to survive the pureblood world for sixteen years. That counts for something, this is still her territory more than ours. I'm not saying that she should go to Diagon Alley, but I think if it comes to that, she could go to Diagon Alley and keep herself safe."

Both of them huffed and rolled their eyes, they knew he was right.

"I just could never forgive myself if something happened to you, and I could've been there" Remus told her

"But, I need you to trust me that I can do this, please?" She asked. James could see Remus didn't want to do it, so he stepped in,

"I can ask my dad to go with you" he spoke up.

"What?" Selene asked

"My dad. I'll ask him to go and make sure you're okay, you don't have to talk to him if you don't want, you can just go about your business and he will watch to make sure you are safe." James explained

"Are you sure he would even want to do that?" Selene asked

"He would" Sirius cut in, "And it's the only way you two will come to an agreement... so... just agree already"

"If Monty goes with her, fine." Remus breathed out

"Fine" Selene said

"Great. I'll go owl him" James smiled standing up from the table.
