41. finally

The morning sun washed brightly over the students in the Great Hall that morning. The four marauders sat at the Gryffindor table with bags under their eyes and coffee in their hand. 

They didn't get to bed around half past five with all the planning they were doing with Selene. The adrenaline rush had kept them awake for the duration of their planning session but once their heads hit the pillow a wave of exhaustion washed over the five of them.orni

"What's got you four so tired" Marlene McKinnon teased 

"Good morning Evans" James mumbled sitting down next to Marlene, addressing the girl on the other side of the blonde,

"Good morning Potter" she smirked. James eyes, which were drifting shut behind his skewed glasses, shot open, 

"No toerag?" he raised an eyebrow proudly

"Don't flatter youself"

Selene was making her way back to her dorm to get changed and ready for the day when Narcissa approached her in the hallway. 

"Hey Selene!" she shouted. The young girl woke up from her daydream and met eyes with the girl

"Hey Cissa" she yawned

"Where were you last night are you okay?"

"Yeah yeah, I'm fine, I was just with Remus" she told her, 

"Okay... you just don't sleep in the dorm a lot anymore"

"Yeah I was just with Remus" she repeated

"Do you know why Theodore was in the hospital wing?" Narcissa asked catching Selene off guard

"What? I didn't" she lied

"Selene is there something-" 

"Cis I gotta go I'm late for breakfast" she hurried off towards the dorm leaving Narcissa dumbfounded in the hallway. 

She hurried in her dorm and slipped on her uniform, trying to put on some makeup that would make her look like less of a zombie. Once she was ready she slung her bag over her shoulder and hurried down to the Great Hall. 

When she walked through the towering doors she saw Theodore and his friends at the Slytherin table, where she sat every day for the previous months, and then she looked to where Remus was standing by the Gryffindor table, with his hair all messed up and his posture mirroring his exhaustion .

So you're minds set, there's nothing I could say or do to stop you from sending that letter?

No.

She looked to the Slytherin table once more where Theodore was staring back at her with a questioning look. 

"Fuck it" she said out loud. She walked over between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables to where Remus was standing. 

He was about to sit down when he saw her walking towards him with a smug look on her face. He turned around to face her when she grabbed his tie and pulled him into her, kissing him hard. The room seemed to go silent as Remus slid his hand to her face kissing her back. 

He had been waiting for this moment since they started dating. To let the whole world know, she was dating him, not Theodore, not Regulus, him. 

The professors watched in pure shock as their two students made out in the middle of breakfast. Theodore's mouth was on the floor as all his friends looked from Selene to him. 

Sirius and James wolf whistled and cheered as the two broke apart. 

"What was that all about?" Remus laughed with a raised eyebrow

"I'm tired of hiding" Selene laughed "Mind if I sit with you, I think every Slytherin wants to kill me right now" she asked. 

"I don't mind" he laughed as she sat next to him at the Gryffindor table. Across from them, Sirius, James and Peter where beaming, 

"Good job mate" Sirius held his fist out to Remus who returned the gesture. On the other side of the boys a blonde and a redhead girl sat, dumbfounded, 

"I like her." the blonde said. The redhead hit her arm and Selene laughed, 

"Hi I'm Selene" 

"I'm Marlene, and this is Lily" the blonde laughed, Lily waved

And up at the Professors table Dumbledore gave McGonagall a knowing look and handed her five galleons under the table.
