LATRELLE TYLER POV

NEXT DAY

I hear voices talking around me right now, but I'm definitely not awake.

"Latrelle?" Someone shook me. "Latrelle, wake up son."

That voice sounds so damn familiar. My eyes slowly opened and the first person I saw was Monse's father in his cop uniform.

"Mr. Finnie?"

I know all about Monty. When Dwayne called the cops on us last Halloween, Monty came through to arrest us. Luckily Dwayne had a change of heart. And with Monse's dad being at the scene of the 'crime', I'm surprised that Monse doesn't know about that night.

I truly regret what Khalil, Darnell, Elijah, Malik and I did. It cost me my friendships and the Turners' trust with me. And Dwayne's a good man, he never gives anybody any problems, so we shouldn't have gave him one.

Monty spoke. "Sorry son. I know you were resting but there's some things that I need to ask you."

"About last night?"

He looked surprised. "So you remember what happened?"

"How can I forgot? I was shot."

"Do you remember who your shooter is?"

I sat up slowly. Of course I remember who my shooter is. Shawn Scott's bitch ass. I'm not no snitch though.

"Latrelle?" Monty waited for me to answer but I didn't. He huffed. "Look, I know you kids these days don't like to snitch, but this is your life we're talking about. This person tried to take it and who knows if this is the last time?"

"It will be," I said certainly.

"How can you be sure?!"

My face went stoic. "Because I'm going to make sure it is."

Monty didn't like those words one bit, but what could he do about it? So he just said, "Okay. If you want your would be killer to roam the streets, fine. Just make sure that my daughter doesn't get caught in the crossfire."

I gave him a confused look.

"Yeah I know that you and Monse are friends, and I heard how you pushed her out of the way." Monty looked at me gratefully. "Thank you."
