You were tied up along with 5 other people.
You were at work when a man dressed in green held you all at gunpoint and tied you all up.
You worked in a pharmacy.
You would have been gone already, but wanted to work overtime.
You just had to be an overachiever.
"We are going to play a game," the Riddler told you.
None of you protested.
"Now, I'm going to ask you riddles. They'll be hard. One of you has to answer in 30 seconds or I'll kill you all one by one," he explained.
You were good at riddles.
Maybe you could do this.
"Riddle one," he began, "When my first is a task to a young girl of spirit, and my second confines her to finish the piece, How hard is her fate! But how great is her merit, if by taking my whole she effects her release! What am I?"
You repeated the riddle in your head.
"Hemlock," you answered.
The Riddler stared at you.
"Okay, riddle number two," he said, "A fast food restaurant sells chicken in orders of 6, 9, and 20. What is the largest number of pieces of chicken you cannot order from this restaurant?"
You did the math in your head.
"7 seconds left," the Riddler laughed.
"43," you answered.
He looked at you in shock.
"The time limit is now 15 seconds," he told you.
You looked at your co workers.
They were staring at you.
Lucky for them you were good at riddles.
"Next one," he said, "What flies when it's born, lies when it's alive, and runs when it's dead?"
"Oh, that one's easy," you said, "A snowflake."
The Riddle kneeled close to you.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Y/N," you whispered.
"Y/N. Beautiful name," he winked.
He stood to his feet.
"Y/N is going to answer one last riddle in exchange for all of your freedoms," he announced.
You winced.
That was a lot of pressure.
"Ready, Y/N?" The Riddler asked.
You just nodded weakly.
"Okay," he said, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"
You thought about this one.
You looked at the counter and noticed the book your manager had been reading at the time of the attack.
The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
"Edgar Allen Poe wrote on both," you answered.
Your co workers cheered.
"Well, I am a man of my word," The Riddler sighed.
He let everyone go.
He helped you to your feet and untied you.
He pulled you into a hug.
"Oh, Y/N," he said, "I'm not letting you go anytime soon."
What did he just say?
