It was your birthday today.
You had woken up early and stretched.
You rubbed your eyes noticed what was around you.
Balloons and confetti surrounded your head.
You chuckled.
"Thank you, lady," you said aloud to the TARDIS.
You opened your wardrobe and found a special outfit laying out for you.
You quickly took a shower and changed.
You ran out to the console room in excitement.
Your dad was waiting for you with a grin.
He had on his signature "fancy fez" and bowtie.
He pulled at his bowtie as you came in the room.
"Happy birthday, love!" he shouted.
"Thank you, dad," you giggled.
"I got you a lot of gifts. Like, a lot as in a multitude. Not more than 100, though, I know you hate to be spoiled. More like... 11. Yes, 11. That sounds, right. 11 is one of the best numbers," your dad rambled.
You looked around, hoping to see your mother.
Because of the mixed up timelines, you rarely got to see her.
You were hoping desperately inside that today would be one of those days.
But it wasn't, it seemed.
You sighed and plastered a smile on your face.
Your dad quickly grabbed your hand and led you over to a corner.
"Geronimo!" he said.
You just shook your head.
"Do i open them now?" you asked.
He nodded.
"Of course!" he urged, "Then we eat breakfast cake."
You opened your first present to see a screwdriver type of thing.
"Dad, is this... ?" you trailed off, asking.
"Your own sonic!" he said, "Onto the next one!"
You gasped and stuffed it in your pocket.
You opened your next one.
Your own bowtie, blue, so it matched the TARDIS.
The next was your own fez, which you made you stare at your dad in amusement.
He looked hopeful.
You knew you would never wear it in public, but for the mean time, you put it on your head.
Your dad clapped.
The rest of your presents were small things like that.
A teddy bear, a bracelet, weird light-up socks.
You loved them all and understood the love of your father hidden behind each.
But that small crack in your heart hurt.
And you couldn't help but be filled with disappointment as you finished eating your slice of birthday breakfast cake.
"What's wrong, Y/N? Didn't you like your presents? Is the cake bad?" your dad asked, nervous.
"No, no, dad! Everything is great!" you tried to assure him, "I just... I really wish mom could be here."
Tears filled your eyes.
"I need a minute. Excuse me," you voice cracked as you tried to hold the tears back.
You ran to your room and tossed your fez to the side, as you crashed onto your bed.
Your face was smothered into the pillow as you cried.
You felt someone pet your hair.
"What's wrong, sweetie? Aren't you having a happy birthday?" you heard.
You recognized your mom's voice and sat up immediately.
You saw her smiling at you and you hugged her tight.
She chuckled and hugged you back just as tight.
"I missed you," you sniffed.
"Oh, I was trying to surprise you. I didn't realize how upset you'd be," she said, "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. I'm just glad you're here," you said.
She stood and held out her hand.
"Let's go join your father," she said.
You put on the fez that had fallen to the floor.
"Your father?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Not my style, but it makes him happy," you confirmed.
She just shook her head and dragged you along.
Your father was in the console room, leaning down with his shoulders slumped.
You could tell he was upset.
You hugged his waist from behind.
"I'm sorry, dad," you said.
He turned around and hugged you properly.
"No, no. I understand. I just wanted you to have a happy birthday," he sighed.
"And she will," your mother cut in.
"River?" your dad asked.
"How could i miss my own child's birthday?" she asked.
Your father leaned over and kissed her quickly before pulling her into a group embrace.
You couldn't help but grin and make a cheesy comment.
"Best birthday ever!"
Happy birthday nightvisions4 and i hope it's one of your best one's yet and I wish you many more!!! ♡
