You were walking into a bar with your best friend Juliette.
She wanted you to meet two of her friends, Psychic Detectives.
You were new to Santa Barbara, moving here to get a job as [Insert Job Here].
She led you over to a table for four.
"We're early," Juliette told you.
You shook your head.
"You know, sometimes it's better to risk being late than being too early," you chuckled.
"I say that all the time to Gus," you heard behind you.
You looked over your shoulder to watch two men approaching.
One, who you believed had made the comment, stood next to you and held out his hand.
"Shawn Spencer, psychic," he introduced.
You shook his hand and raised an eyebrow at Juliette, who just shook her head.
"Y/N," you replied, "Ordinary."
His partner hugged Juliette in greeting before shaking your hand.
"Burton Guster, call me Gus," he said.
"I'm Y/N," you said, smiling.
The two sat across from you.
"You're new to Santa Barbara, aren't you?" Shawn asked.
"Yes," you nodded.
"Did one of your visions tell you that?" Juliette asked, under her breath.
"Now, Juliette. Is there something you want to say?" Shawn asked her.
She just sighed and you laughed.
Shawn winked at you.
"Why the move, if you don't mind me asking?" Gus asked.
"Work, and my best friend here," you said, nudging Juliette slightly.
"Jules, you should have told us about her before a week ago," Shawn scolded playfully.
"Oh no, the last thing I need is for her to share any embarrassing stories," you spoke.
Shawn leaned forward.
"I love embarrassing stories. I have tons of them about Gus," he whispered.
"And I have billions of them about you. You just think of them as adventures," Gus muttered.
You smiled.
Juliette's phone rang.
"I have to take this; It's work," she said, putting the phone to her ear.
After a minute of talking, she hung up and stood.
"Gus, you might want to come with me. There was a theft at your pharmaceutical company," she said.
Gus got to his feet quickly.
"I'll go too," you offered.
"No, no," Juliette scoffed, "Just stay here. It should be a quick case. I'll be back soon."
Your discomfort grew apparent.
"Okay, yeah," you said in defeat.
You watched Juliette and Gus leave.
You turned back to Shawn, who was hiding his face in a menu.
You stared at the table.
Shawn put the menu down and looked at you.
"So..., how's your day going?" He asked.
You were confused as to where all his confidence had gone.
Did you make him uncomfortable?
Maybe you should leave.
You had no idea how to get back to your apartment from here, though.
Juliette had driven you.
"Um, fine," you responded, awkwardly, "Yours?"
"Fine," he nodded.
You sighed.
Someone shoved into you as they passed.
You looked to see a drunken guy.
Shawn stood.
"Come on, have some respect man!" He called after the guy.
"It's fine, Shawn," you smiled, "But thank you."
Shawn sat back down and looked at you.
"Do you like tacos?" He asked, smiling.
"Love 'em. Why?" You questioned.
Shawn stood again and held out his hand.
"Let's get out of here," he offered.
Juliette had told you to stay here.
Oh well.
You took Shawn's hand and he pulled you to your feet.
He held your hand, leading you to a blue car.
"I took these from Gus," he said, holding up the keys.
You got into the passenger's seat and Shawn drove off.
He held your hand as he drove to a taco restaurant.
"Stay here," he said, getting out.
You waited a few moments in comfortable silence.
Shawn returned with two boxes of tacos.
"Let's take these to my office and we'll have a real dinner and conversation," he nodded, driving off once more.
"That sounds amazing," you grinned.
Shawn took your hand once more, squeezing it.
You two finished the tacos in no time.
Shawn was now telling you the story of his first case.
"And now you do it all the time?" You questioned.
"Pretty much," he shrugged.
"That's awesome," you chuckled.
"So...," he said.
"So...," you repeated, teasingly.
Shawn chuckled.
"How was this for a first date?" He asked.
You were caught off guard.
"This was a first date?" You questioned.
"Unconventional and totally opportunistic, but yes," he confirmed.
"Well, i loved it," you said.
Shawn kissed your cheek.
"Want to do it again sometime?" He offered.
"Definitely," you nodded.
There was a moment of silence.
"There having a horror movie marathon tonight. Want to have a sleepover?" He asked, "Have our second date right now?"
"Well, I have no idea how to get home, so why not?"
