Your sister, Jean Grey, was dead.
You had been fixing the mansion and safely escorting back the kids who had managed to flee the attack, instead of going on the mission.
When the others returned, you ran to greet them.
Everyone exited the jet with sad expressions.
You waited with anxiety to see your sister exit.
But when Scott, with obvious tear trails exited and the door to the jet closed after him, your heart dropped to your stomach.
You knew.
You knew your big sister, your guardian, your best friend, was gone.
You fell to your knees with a sob.
Scott fell on his knees by your side, hugging you.
Silent tears fell from his eyes.
You could feel them falling onto your skin.
You cried loudly, not caring.
This was the first time the team and students had seen you reveal true emotion.
Usually you could hide it better, but this was what broke you.
Your sister was all you had.
After a few moments, Logan joined Scott, on your other side, just holding you tight.
You knew why he did it.
Your power was to see into other's minds with a touch.
He showed you how Jean saved them and how she made him promise to protect you.
He showed you her goodbyes and her last "I love you" to you.
You managed to pull yourself together.
With the help of Logan and Scott, you stood.
"I'm sorry," you managed to say.
"No, we're sorry, Y/N," Professor Xavier said.
You just silently and slowly walked alone to your room.
You laid down in bed, silent tears falling.
You heard a pop noise and looked to see Nightcrawler, or Kurt, watching you.
You wiped your eyes.
"Hey, Kurt," you said, voice cracking.
He opened his arms, as if to hug you.
"May I?" he asked.
You sat up and nodded.
He hugged you tight.
"I'm so sorry about your sister. I tried to get her, but she wouldn't let me," he told you.
"Thank you," you said.
You laid back down and Kurt laid next to you.
He held you close to his chest.
"I'm here for you, Y/N," he whispered, "Anything you need."
"Just stay with me," you asked, looking up at him.
He looked down at you and gave you a comforting smile.
"Of course," he nodded.
You lightly kissed him.
He kissed back gently before you snuggled closer to him.
He kissed the top of your head.
At least you still had Kurt.
