You were just beginning to settle under the cool sheets of your bed in the Avengers Tower.
You had had a late night thanks to Stark.
He had waited until you got back from a two- week mission Fury had forced you to go on alone to send you out for a few errands.
It was 1 in the morning and you would probably sleep until 1 am the next morning.
Well, if your fellow Avengers let you.
You were an Avenger because you controlled fire.
They called you "Inferno."
You suddenly heard shouting and stuff being thrown.
You bolted up in bed.
You were across the hall from Bucky Barnes, formerly known as the Winter Soldier.
You two were the only ones down this hallway.
You left your bedroom and entered Bucky's quietly, in case there was an enemy to deal with.
You would have the element of surprise.
You didn't see anyone.
Instead, Bucky was thrashing around, crying out in Russian.
His eyes were closed.
He was having a nightmare.
You walked close to his bed.
"Bucky?" you asked, quietly at first.
You didn't want to scare him any further.
Then Bucky started screaming louder.
You kneeled on the bed next to him, trying to shake him.
"Bucky!" You called, loudly.
His eyes snapped open and his metal arm reached over, shoving you back.
You smacked your head on the floor, cursing.
You sat up, rubbing your head.
Bucky looked over at you.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I'm so sorry," he stammered.
"Hey, no. It's okay. If i woke up to someone shaking me, I'd hit them too," you said, understanding.
He sat up.
"How loud was I?" he asked.
"Well, since I'm the only one awake, not too loud," you answered.
"Thanks for waking me up," he said.
"No problem," you replied, "Was that... a nightmare?"
He nodded, silently.
"Do you want to talk about it?" you questioned.
He shook his head.
"Are you okay?" you asked.
He shook his head again.
"You should go back to bed," he said.
"Not until I know you're okay," you said.
"I can't ask that of you," he said, looking at you.
You cracked a smile.
"That's why I'm offering," you said to him.
"How do you do that?" he asked.
"Do what?" you responded, confused.
"Make everything go away," he sighed, rubbing his hands together.
You understood what he was trying to stay.
"How about I stay with you and chase the nightmares away?" you offered.
He looked at you hesitantly, before nodding.
He shifted over in his bed and you laid at his side.
Bucky wrapped his arms around you, holding you close to his chest.
"Thank you, Y/N," he whispered.
"Anytime Bucky," you replied.
"Can we do this every night?" he asked.
You nodded.
"Thank you for being there for me," he told you.
"I'm with you to the end of the line."
