The entire time I sat at my desk I couldn't stop staring at my ring. I just knew I'd be the last person on earth standing before I got proposed to.
I need to get focused on scheduling this viewing for my parents because they've been waiting, I've just been basking in my own glow.
I finally got my head out of the clouds and got back to my work.
"Did you complete the form for your other client, India?" My boss asked
"Yes, I did. It'll be ready shortly, I'm just correcting some information." I said
I continued my task again. I don't get off until 5 and it's only 12—I miss my kids and my man, 5 can't come quick enough.
I decided to shoot Chris a text to see how he was holding up with watching Ai'marie for relatively the first time. Every other time these past few days, my mom has been there to where he wasn't completely alone to do everything himself.
Chris♥️: she actually sleep right now.

My phone started ringing right after I sent the text over and I seen Lauren was calling,
"Hey, girl."
"India, I know you're at work but I just have a quick question!" she frantically said
"Yeah, what is it?"
"Okay, so I was driving far out to go pick my mom up some fabric samples from her designer and I rode pass this house that caught my attention because the police was surrounding it, I stopped to be nosy and the woman they were walking out seemed to look like Chris's mom, she doesn't happen to live somewhere out here on Clifton Road does she?" she asked
"I mean I never knew where she lived at but her staying somewhere far makes sense, did it look like her? Like did you get a good look?" I asked
"It definitely did, but the police begin directing traffic after so many people started slowing down so I couldn't park and look but I'm almost sure it was her." she said
"I'm about to circle back around though and see if they're still out there, stay on the phone" she added
I pressed the speaker icon on my phone while I continued to work and wait on her to tell me what she seen. I don't want my boss coming back in here inquiring about a document I was suppose to been turned in.
I was filling in the last of the information for my potential client and heading to my printer but stopped when I heard Lauren start talking again.
"Oh.My.God...." she said
"What? What happened?"
"They're rolling out a black body bag from the house and that is indeed Joyce in the backseat of the police car." she said
I put my papers down and my eyes grew big as I processed what she was saying to me.
"I wonder is that Sabrina..." I said
"I wonder, too—okay I'm moving!"
"Who are you talking to?"
"The police, trying to direct everybody to move along."
"You are a mess, but I'll stop by when I get off of work at 5, I have to tell Chris too." I said
"Alright, I'll see you later."
I was shook with the information I just received and my mind wouldn't stop roaming to it all day.

When I got home Royalty was running around playing with some toys and Chris was sitting on the couch in the living room with Ai'Marie asleep on his chest. When I came in he looked over to me and smiled, "Hey, I wasn't even paying attention to the time." He said
"Time couldn't go quick enough." I replied as I put my purse down and took off my shoes.
"You work today?" I asked
"It's a weekday, of course I work." he lightly chuckled
"I'm thinking of calling off though, I'm tired as hell and was rarely able to nap." He explained
"Ai'Marie gave you a hard time?"
"Yeah, she was asleep for so long but she woke back up and wouldn't go back to sleep since." he explained
I went and washed my hands and grabbed her from off of his chest to go lay her down. After I came back from laying her down I sat next to Chris on the couch. I baffled with either waiting to tell Chris the news I found out and letting the detectives or somebody tell him or me telling him ahead of time. I'm not certain because I wasn't there but it doesn't hurt to tell him just in case all of what Lauren seen was true.
"So, Lauren called me today and she told me some rather interesting news..." I said
"And what is that?" he asked
I took a deep sigh, though I know he wasn't fond of Sabrina and she caused a lot of turmoil in our lives, I was scared of how he would react to the news.
"Hold on, lawyer calling me..." he said and reached for his phone that was ringing on the arm of the couch
I'm guessing the news was true and the lawyer is calling to let Chris know about it. It's better he tell him than me because I couldn't' even think of a way to break it to him. He'll probably have more information about the situation than both Lauren and I.
"Are you serious?" Chris asked as he sat up
"Oh wow..okay." he added
They spoke a few more words and then he hung up.
He stared in confusion for a few seconds before he started talking.
"They arrested my mom for being an accessory to the kidnapping of Sabrina, for tampering with evidence and for murder, the murder of Sabrina. They found her in her basement." he said
I raised my eyebrows, I knew this earlier but it's still surprising.
"That's what Lauren was telling me about earlier, but I didn't know she was in her basement. This is all so surprising." I said
I feel bad for Chris because even though both his mom and Sabrina did some crazy things to him, I can imagine how he feels about all of this.
"I'm sorry, Chris." I said and rubbed his back
"Nah, it's all good—I'm all good." he said and let out a light chuckle
I could tell it bothered him a bit but I decided to leave him alone for a while.
I made sure the kids were alright and then went upstairs to shower. When I got out I headed downstairs to put something on for dinner.
It was early and I wasn't in a rush for dinner so I let it cook on low.
"I'll be right back." I said to Chris and left out to go across the street to talk to Lauren.
"Hey, I was just about to come over there." Lauren said as I walked in
"I just put dinner on and wanted to come talk with you, though we all know how Joyce and Sabrina did all of us, I still feel bad about it—I'm more surprised than anything. Also, I'm worried about Chris."
"Why?" she asked as we sat on the couch
"That's still his mom, you know, so I could imagine that he'd still feel some type of way about it. Sabrina was hell on wheels since he met her but she was still once someone to him, too, and she's also Royalty's biological mother. I don't know, maybe I'm being too soft but I feel bad about the entire thing. I am glad his mom got caught though and she's getting the tie she deserves." I explained
"No, I can understand why you're saying that but as far as Sabrina being Royalty's birth mother—not only did she give those rights up years ago, but Royalty doesn't even know that's her birth mother, all of her memories with Sabrina are negative. Don't feel bad, and Chris will eventually be alright, give him time though because though they both caused turmoil, I could understand how this would take a toll on him—his mom going down for murder and it's the murder of his ex and biological mother of his child, it is nerve wrecking." she explained
"Yeah, you get me." I nodded
Our attention diverted to the TV where the News was being broadcasted, "You look at the news now? Turn it up." I said
"Girl, no, my TV reset earlier and this is the first channel." she said as she reached for the remote.
"Joyce Hawkins was arrested earlier today for the kidnapping and murder of her son's ex girlfriend and mother of his child, Sabrina Eason. The police department were working closely with close relatives of Joyce these past few weeks for information on Sabrina though her son was falsely accused three weeks ago. Joyce was working closely with a detective that helped her tamper with the evidence in review and he is also under investigation and has been suspended. Joyce will be having a court meeting later this week to discuss the outcome of her case, thank you." The new reporter said
Lauren turned the TV down and turned to look at me, "I wonder how she killed her or how they figured out it was all Joyce."
"I wonder too, but I won't be going down there to find out. I want nothing to do with the police station. I can wait until they release a story on it or something." I said
"I know that's right..." she said
I talked with her for another twenty minutes before I went back across the street to check on the food. I found Chris on the patio flaming up a blunt and reclining his feet.
He took a pull, "What a day..." he said as he exhaled
Right, what a day!
