Excitement whirled in your stomach as your Uber approached closer to Jenna's house. A long three-week work trip came to an early end and you were going to surprise Jenna, who has texted you daily how much she missed you.

The Uber pulls up to her house and you grab a $20 and tip the driver cash. Grabbing the roses that sat on the seat beside you, you slid out of the car with your duffel bag over your shoulder. After closing the car door behind you, you adjust some of the roses so they would look perfect for your girl.

Walking up the path to the door, you notice an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. "Jenna must have gotten a new car," you thought to yourself. A grin bearing on your face just by thinking of her.

You tip-toe up the front porch steps and fidget with your hair before reaching for the doorbell. You stand up a little straighter, one hand behind your back holding the flowers.

The deadbolt turns and clicks as it unlocks, the door squeaking slightly as it's opened. Your smile grew wider on your face.

"Surpri-"

Your smile quickly fell when you realized it wasn't Jenna at the door. Instead, a stranger who was in silk pajamas and her wet hair bundled in a towel.

When the stranger caught a glimpse of your familiar face, she attempted to close the door on you. Instead, you were quick enough to put your arm through the gap of the door and use your shoulder to push the door and the woman back.

Her widened eyes caught yours, she could feel herself getting smaller as you took a step closer to her.

"Who are you? And what are you doing in my girlfriend's house?" You let your duffel bag fall off your shoulder, taking another step closer to her. "How did you break in? This place is alarmed."

You reached into your back pocket, pulling out your cell phone, ready to dial 911 on the person you assumed was an intruder.

"I-I didn't break in! Don't call the cops," she said, taking a step back from you. "Please."

Just as you were about to dial 911, the sound of footsteps coming down from the stairs grabbed your attention.

"What movie do you wanna watch tonight, love?" Jenna said. She wore a bathrobe, using a towel to dry her hair.

When she got down to the bottom of the stairs, she saw the two together and her face went lackluster.

"Y-Y/n," she gulped, gripping the towel against her chest. She forced an innocent smile. "W-What are you doing home? I thought you weren't supposed to be home until Wednesday..." She bit her lower lip.

You felt anger begin to rise in your veins, you clenched your jaw tight. "What is this?" You questioned, pointing between Jenna and the other woman.

"Oh- yeah," Jenna said, forcing a fake laugh. "T-This is Mikey, w-we're just having a sleepov-"

"Don't bullshit me, Jenna," you interrupted bitterly

Fear appeared in Jenna's eyes, she glanced at Mikey as if she could save her. Tears stung Jenna's eyes, she blinked quickly to try and stop them, but to no avail. The tears began streaming down her flushed face. She sniffled, padding a few steps closer and attempting to pull you into a hug.

You halted her by pushing her back by the shoulder gently. You notice a light purple bruise on the side of her neck. "Is that a fucking hickey, Jenna?!"

She let out a cry and took a step back, pulling some of her hair over her neck. "Please, y/n... I-It was a mistake! It-It won't happen again, I swear...."

"You're right, it won't," you snapped back. You pushed the bouquet of roses roughly into her chest, hoping that she feels the pinch of the thorns on the stems.

You turned away from her, and stepped towards the door, taking notice of the framed photo of you and Jenna on the small side table at the entrance.

Before Jenna could realize what you were about to do, you picked up the frame and smashed it to the floor. The sound of the glass shattering echoes into silence.

Jenna let out another sob seeing the frame break, knowing she would never have the chance to relive or create any more memories with you.

You used your foot and kicked the frame back toward Jenna. She knelt on the ground and began hopelessly trying to piece the frame back together. "Please, y/n!" She said through sobs. "I don't, I can't, lose you!"

"You made that decision for yourself," you gritted through your teeth. "I hope you have a shitty life."

You stepped out and slammed the door so hard behind you, you could feel the porch shake from under your feet.

Once the door was closed and you started walking away from the house, you let your walls down and let yourself cry. You cried so hard that your legs felt weak and your duffel bag became 20 pounds heavier.

Jenna was once the source of your happiness. She was your person. She made you feel whole.

But you just weren't enough for her.
