"So, what are we doing here again?"
That is what Tatsumi asked as he, alongside, Sayo and Ieyasu, are all at the training ground alongside the other Night Raid members.
"With the indication that Thirteenth has gotten a Teigu from his target, it is time for one of you to use it." Najenda explained, bringing in the sword with teeth.
"I don't understand. Can't you guys use it?" Sayo asked.
"A person can only use one Teigu at a time. Even if it is possible, it is extremely taxing due to sapping away a person's stamina." Lubbock explained.
"So, you're giving it to us... Why?" Tatsumi questioned.
"To see if one of you three would wield it. The Teigu chooses who is the wielder. If they aren't, it will reject them. It they do, then they are it's new wielder." Najenda explained.
"So, what is thing's name again?" Ieyasu said, poking at the sword that had finally been planted to the ground.
"From what I can hear however..." Thirteenth said, standing from the porch and far away from the others, "My target called it, The Beheader: Kraken. A sword with a sharp blade as well as the ability to make it sharper, capable of cutting through anything...." Thirteenth's face looked rather annoyed, "....and brighter too."
"Really? Let's see." Ieyasu said, grabbing the sword in his hand.
"Damned it, Ieyasu. Would you think first before you do something? What if it's dangerous?" Sayo screeched at him.
"It doesn't, Sayo. What it can do is just making the wielder feel something funny and that's it. Nothing dangerous." Najenda explained, "Regardless of that..." Najenda then looked at him, "So, Ieyasu... do you feel anything?"
Ieyasu then swing the Teigu around with one hand with little effort, "Uhm... Nothing much. I mean, I don't feel anything. Is it broken?" Ieyasu said.
"Nope...." Najenda said as she gives a smile, "I believe that the Teigu has chosen you as it's wielder."
"Really? Oh yeah...." Ieyasu yelled out with a cheer as he fist pump into the air with his new weapon.
"Careful with that. It's not a toy." Mine said to him but Ieyasu ignored her.
"Oh man, why is Ieyasu get one while I don't?" Tatsumi said sadly.
"Don't worry, we'll get one too. I'm sure of it." She said assuringly as she pat his back.
"So, how do I make it glow-" His thoughts is interrupted when Lubbock's gloves began to turned.
"Guys, stopped. I think I sense intruders approaching our base." Lubbock stated.
"What? In broad daylight?" Sheele asked.
"From what I could tell, I think there are twenty people." Lubbock stated.
"If they sniffed us out, then they must be trained mercenaries." Najenda said as she light her cigar. "Well, guess it's time to put that Teigu to good use, Ieyasu. We can't let any of them escape or they will give away our location."
"Let them come...." A deep and dark voice is heard as, to Night Raid's shock and even bewilderment, Thirteenth is wearing a costume reminiscent of a plague doctor as his whole body started spewing black smoke and carrying his scythe aloft, "None shall escape Death itself."
"Thirteenth, stop. We should stick together and-" Najenda, however, was interrupted when Thirteenth does something.
"Come my ride. Come my steed. Pestilence, come to me and bring death to these abandoned world." Thirteenth chanted before something comes out from the black smoke.
To all of Night Raid's shock and horror, it is a horse of all things and much to their disgust, it's body is completely rotting and full of maggots everywhere.
The undead horse neighs loudly as Thirteenth jumped on top of it and ready themselves to ride. And with the image alone, it does truly encapsulated how it looks like death itself, "Come, Pestilence. Let none shall escape their death." Thirteenth declared as it then gallop to the wall and jump over it.
All of Night Raid just stare at the scene before them for a minute before saying, "What the fuck just happened?" Mine said.
"I think he just summoned a horse, I think?" Sheele said.

Tatsumi, alongside Sayo and Ieyasu are all running into the forest as they try to find the enemy, splitting up to cover more ground.
"Okay, I can do this. I can do this." Ieyasu said to assure himself.
"Hey, don't worry, Ieyasu. We can do this." Sayo said to him.
"Yeah, although good luck since you have a weapon while we-" Tatsumi is however interrupted when every now and then, they could hear the sounds of skirmishes where metals are clashing and the sounds of screaming.
"Guess the guys are getting busy, huh?" Tatsumi said but before he could get a response, a yell is heard as Tatsumi rolled back to avoid a downward sword strike.
The one responsible looked to be one of the mercenaries as he looked at the trio with a confident grin, "What's this? Night Raid just recruit a bunch of kids? Hah, this is gonna be easy."
"Hey, don't underestimate us." Tatsumi countered.
"Yeah, we're going to be the best assassins you will ever see." Ieyasu countered too.
"Whatever. Once I'm done with you two, I'm gonna have some fun with the little lady over there." The mercenary said with a perverted grin, looking at Sayo, who looked in disgust.
This made Ieyasu looked in fury, "YOU'RE DEAD!" Ieyasu said before charging forward and jump to give a downward slice upon him.
The mercenary would have nonchalantly blocked only for the blade to slice through his and down below him.
Ieyasu then calms down as he looked at the mercenary as said mercenary gets a shocked look, "W-what... Just... H-happen..." The mercenary said in a stutter before blood starts gushing out from his body, spraying out everywhere before he was bisected into two.
The trio yelped as they dodged the fountain of blood that almost sprayed to them until finally, it's done.
The trio just looked at the corpse that they have killed as Ieyasu said, "I think I'm gonna be sick."
"Same." Sayo said blankly.
"Yeah. Let's all not say anything about this. Agreed?" Tatsumi said.
"Agreed." Sayo and Ieyasu said together.

The Bane Three finally met up with the rest of Night Raid who were all discussing the results of what had happened.
"Hey, you three. So, how many did you kill?" Leone said cheerfully to them.
"Just one. But we don't want to talk about it." Tatsumi said blankly.
"Hey, what's wrong-"
"We don't want to talk about it." The trio said together, their faces being all blank and traumatised.
Leone frown at their response before she said, "Well, I got just one too."
"Humph." Mine said, with a proud smile. "I just shot two in a single shot."
"None." Bulat said. "I guess they steered clear from me, or maybe I'm just got unlucky."
"Don't feel bad, man." Lubbock said. "Sheele and I didn't get any either."
"Four." Akame said simply which makes Leone cried out in faux jealousy.
"So... that makes... twelve... right? Then where are the rest?" Lubbock but before anyone could answer him, they hear a loud scream of terror that is transmitted from the forest and into the air.
"Guess we know who got the others, huh?" Lubbock said and everyone nod in a grim expression.

"RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! RUN FOR YOUR-"
That was the mercenary's last words before he was bisected by a scythe as Thirteenth is chasing down the remaining mercenaries while riding Pestilence with him.
"NONE SHALL RUN THE INEVITABLY OF DEATH! SCREAM ALL YOU LIKE BUT NOTHING CAN STOP DEATH!" That is Thirteenth's boast as he continued chasing the remaining mercenaries while the bodies have become a black sludge.
The remaining eleven mercenaries were all running in fear at the sight of some guy chasing them down, wearing a dark costume with a bird mask and riding the fucked up horse they have ever seen and carrying a giant black scythe.
How did it turned out like this?
What was a (supposedly) easy payment of getting money by finally finding out where Night Raid's hideout is takes a turn for the worse when they are facing off against whoever or whatever is chasing them down with the aforementioned features.
"HOW DID IT TURNED OUT LIKE THIS?" One of the mercenaries yelled out before he was killed, being beheaded by Thirteenth.
Thirteenth then stand on his horse and jump and pounce on one of mercenaries, kicking him down and smashing his head in before one of the mercenaries tried to fight him. Only for Thirteenth to swing his scythe at the mercenary and bisected him into two and making him melt into black sludge.
Thirteenth then laugh in a sadistic manner before he jumped again on Pestilence as they continue chasing down the remaining eight mercenaries.
The last three were all running as fast as they can and finally they come out from the forest before they stopped at a nearby stream.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" One of the mercenaries said frantically.
"We can't. The stream is too deep." Another said reasonably.
"Well, we have to do something. We got to run away from that monster." The last mercenary said who is actually the only female with tanned skin and short black hair, wearing only a shirt white cape studded with gold plates, a blue top and a sari skirt.
Meanwhile, behind the trees, all of Night Raid are behind the trees as they watch the remaining three mercenaries standing near the stream.
"Guess we miss a few stragglers, huh? And one of them is a lady too." Lubbock said, muttering about the last part.
"Oh well. Now who wants to get the first kill, huh?" Leone said as she is ready to jump only to be stopped by Akame, "Hey, Akame. What gives?"
Akame said nothing before she sniffed, "Did you smelled that?"
All of Night Raid then sniffed the area before they blanched.
"Ugh... It smells disgusting. I could almost puke." Mine said as she pinched her nose.
"I think it smells like...." Sheele thought her eyes are widened at the realization, "....rotting corpses."
As she said this, they saw one of the mercenaries run out from the forest, screaming in fear and terror until finally, he was killed by a scythe that had bisected him.
The members of Night Raid saw how Thirteenth ride his horse and instantly turned that mercenary into black sludge and Mine and Sayo puked at the awful sight.
Thirteenth with his horse then jumped into the air and dive bomb onto one of the mercenaries, crushing him into a bloody paste before he and Pestilence looked at the second mercenary who trembled and cower in fear but tried to remain defiant.
Very badly, thought.
Thirteenth just scoffed at the sight before he disembark from his horse and said to it, "Time for your breakfast, Pestilence. Your treat." Thirteenth said with tender loving care to him before it neigh and gallop towards the mercenary.
The mercenary, throwing dignity out of the way, just run in fear before Pestilence catches up to him and devour him, all of Night Raid looked in shock at the mercenary's horrid fate.
"Is it okay for me to feel bad about anyone getting killed by Thirteenth?" Tatsumi said in worry to any of his friends. When they looked at him and just nod, "Well, guess I'm not the only one."
The last female mercenary watched as her fellow mercenaries were all gruesomely killed by Thirteenth and his horse, Pestilence.
And she quiver in fear at the sight of these enigmatic monster draped in a plague doctor uniform is marching towards her in a menacing manner, with his black smoke shrouding his body and scythe in hand, giving it a menacing appearance.
"Run as much as you can but none shall escape the inevitably of death." Thirteenth invoked as he slowly march towards her.
"P-please..." The woman then get on her knees and clasped her hand as she tried to beg for Thirteenth, ".... S-spare me... Please...."
"Beg all you want, foolish woman but none shall escape their judgement."
"Please... I didn't mean to join... I just wanted the money... t-that's all..."
"Make excuses all you want but none shall be spared by the blade of death itself. Prepare to die. In eternal agony." Thirteenth said as he prepares to kill him.
The Bane Three all looked at the woman in worry while the Night Raid members just looked at the scene with a grim expression.
"S-should we... Uh... do something..." Sayo asked.
"I mean, I think she is scared enough." Ieyasu said.
"Yeah and-"
"Don't Tatsumi...." Akame interrupted him, "In our line of work, we shouldn't give our enemies any mercy or quarter. That woman should have known how she and her mercenary band and she should be prepared to face death itself."
"I mean, quite literally, thought." Lubbock said, "And as much as I don't want to see a pretty lady like her getting killed, might as well leave her to death's hand."
"Sorry guys. But it is just how we work." Bulat said to them and the trio frowned but nod reluctantly in understanding.
As Thirteenth continue to march towards her with a menacing and slow stroll, the female mercenary just did what she has to do when facing inevitable death.
"WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH...."
She cried, throwing her dignity with little grace as possible.
All of Night Raid and even Thirteenth all have their eyes widened in shock and surprise at the female mercenary bawling in tears.
"PLEASE, GOD. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. I DIDN'T MEAN TO COMMIT A SIN. I DIDN'T MEAN TO KILL PEOPLE. I JUST WANTED TO SURVIVE. WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH...."
All of Night Raid just looked at the scene in bewilderment at how the tension just cut off like that.
"Okay, I get that anyone can be all bark and no bite but that just came out of nowhere." Lubbock said.
"To be fair, anyone could act like that when they are about to die." Sheele said.
"Yeah, but not like that. At least show some dignity, would ya lady?" Mine said.
And Thirteenth, of all people, just looked in shock as the mortal in front of him just bawl around like a child. And he can feel his eyes twitching at how this mortal is crying in front of him.
'Ugh, I am so hating people who cries. It feels... nauseating. At the very least, she is not a baby. Doesn't matter.' Thirteenth thought before he ready his threat, "Cry all you want. But-"
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO CHEAT AT A TEST. IT WAS VERY HARD. AND MY MOM DIDN'T GIVE ME TIME TO READ."
"Cry all you-"
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO STEAL FOOD FROM THE LOCAL STORE. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY AND I'M HUNGRY."
"Cry all-"
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO RUN AWAY TO JOIN THE BAD BOYS JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE COOL. I JUST WANTED A LIFE FOR MY SELF. PLEASE FORGIVE ME."
"Cry-"
"PLEASE FORGIVE ME. PLEASE FORGIVE ME. PLEASE FORGIVE ME...." And the mercenary just bawled as Thirteenth just looked in absolute annoyance.
'Are you kidding me? Am I seriously hesitating to kill someone because they are crying? How can this be in anyway hard? I am Thirteenth. I am death incarnate. I am-' Thirteenth's thought is interrupted when the female mercenary continue to bawl and bawl until...
"DAMNED IT YOU STUPID BITCH! JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!" Thirteenth yelled in anger, making the mercenary stop and all of Night Raid widened their eyes in shock.
"Holy hell... Thirteenth seemed pissed..." Lubbock said.
"To be fair, I think I would actually felt that when I was about to kill someone too pathetic." Akame said.
They all watched as Thirteenth take off his mask as his very costume is gone, revealing the young man before her, "Wait... You're..."
Thirteenth then looked behind him as he said, "Why are you all standing around for? Kill her already."
As he said this, all the members of Night Raid all come out from the forests as the female mercenary quiver in fear again.
"That's impressive. Since when did you notice?" Bulat said.
"Since you think it is amusing to see me being annoyed by this bitch bawling like an undignified child." Thirteenth sarcastically said.
Leone just chuckled, "You're not wrong about that."
"And what's the hesitation? Isn't the embodiment of death too soft to kill a crying lady?" Mine said mockingly to him.
"Hardly. Her crying is too annoying for my taste. Let you all kill her. I have standards to uphold." Thirteenth explained.
"Well, no complaints for that." Lubbock said before he ready his Teigu and approach the lady, "So sorry, lady. I don't like killing a pretty girl. But this is nothing personal. Just doing our job." Lubbock said blankly as he is ready to kill her.
"Wait... Wait... Please spare me... I... I..." The female mercenary tried to beg before she yelled, "PLEASE! LET ME BE YOUR SLAVE!"
As she said this, a wall of rotting arms punch forward and protected her from Lubbock's strings.
"Hey... What the..." Lubbock yelped in shock before he was pushed aside by Thirteenth who then looked at her.
As the wall of arms then receded, they all then moved around before grabbing the mercenary, carrying her aloft and bringing her at eye level to both Thirteenth and the others.
"What did you just say?" Thirteenth said to her.
"Please, spare me. And I can do whatever you want. Just please spare me." The female mercenary said.
She then gulped as Thirteenth threatened her with his scythe inching closer to her neck.
"What's your name?" Thirteenth said.
"It's... It's Kali..." The female mercenary, Kali, introduced herself.
"Kali, right. Right. What makes you think I wanted a slave in the first place?" Thirteenth said to her.
"I don't want to die. Even if I returned, the chieftain will kill me. Please, I'll do anything. Just let me live. Please." Kali begged both Thirteenth and all of Night Raid.
Thirteenth then put his finger on his chin as he contemplate.
"You're kidding, right? Are we seriously going to invite an intruder here to our base?" Mine said.
"Maybe she would actually make a good servant. I know I wouldn't." Sheele said while looking down sadly.
"The boss said to never leave any intruders live. That is her orders." Akame said.
"Oh, don't be such a stick in the mud. Maybe she wouldn't be that bad." Leone said.
"Is it kind of wrong to actually get a slave?" Sayo said in worry.
"That depends if we treat her right, though. I mean, I don't know." Ieyasu said.
"Yeah, nothing is kind of right or wrong in this world anyway. And I don't which is which." Tatsumi said.
As the members of Night Raid continue their arguments and complaints, they stopped when Thirteenth said, "Fine."
This made everyone looked at Thirteenth in shock and surprise.
"Oh, thank yo-" Kali stopped as she is still being threatened by his scythe.
"Don't mistake me sparing you because of pity. When you said you would be my slave, that means you will do whatever I say. And if you dare betray me, I have other ways to make sure that if you betray me or Night Raid, you will regret meeting the inevitably of death. So, I'm going to say this. Are. You. Sure?" Thirteenth said to her.
Kali just looked in fear before she reluctantly nod to him.
"Hmph, a poor choice. But who am I to say no to an extra help." Thirteenth said before he grabbed her and to Night Raid's shock, he bites her neck.
"WHAT THE FUCK?" Mine yelled in shock.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" Leone yelled in shock as well.
And the hands finally let go as Thirteenth carried as he continue biting Kali's neck. Kali keep on struggling and struggling until her eyes started to roll up as she stopped struggling.
Thirteenth finally let go of her as she throws her off the ground and all of Night Raid watched as Kali is starting to convulse and cough up black liquid from her mouth before she finally passed out.
Thirteenth then touch her neck and just smirked.
"Wh-what... did you do?" Bulat said in horror.
"What do you think? I am getting a slave."

"So, I see that you have exterminated them all?" Najenda said as she looked to see all the members are all at the meeting room to report to her.
"Yeah... Uhm... Almost..." Lubbock said with hesitation.
"Almost?" Najenda said in bewilderment.
"Well, Thirteenth... Just... Uh..." Sheele was about to say something before Mine beat her to it.
"He just fucking bite someone's neck off and did something to her. It was fucked up." Mine said, screeching.
Najenda still confused before she looked at Akame for clarification, "We were successful at exterminating all of the mercenaries. Thirteenth was also successful at killing the majority of them until he spared the last one."
"Pardon?"
"What she means is that Thirteenth would have killed the sole remaining mercenary until Kali, that was her name, started to beg and wanted to be spared by becoming his slave." Lubbock explained.
"His what?"
"I know, right? Then he bites her in the neck and she coughs up black sludge from her mouth. It's freaky." Leone said, shuddering at the remembrance.
"I see. And where is Thirteenth now?" Najenda questioned.
"Tending to a new addition to my Undead Legion. What else?"
That was what all heard as they looked to see Thirteenth coming inside the meeting room.
"And where is-"
"Where is my slave, you may ask? Still in my room as her body and mind is adapting to having a portion of my power inside her." Thirteenth explained.
"I see. And the biting?"
"Didn't you hear what I said? I give her a portion of my power. And right now, she is in a trance where her mind and body are slowly accepting my power to be bend to my will." Thirteenth explained.
"What do you mean?"
"You should know however of my power. I have the ability to control the dead. But I do need a lieutenant to fight and serve by my side. That is why I bite her. I injected her with a portion of my powers to make her my second in command, granting her my powers while also, erasing any known personality and identity, becoming a servant to my will. Understand?" He explained.
"So you enslaved her?" Najenda said, glaring at him.
"Is there a problem? All I am doing is gaining the strength and advantage I need for both myself and you. You have already crossed the lines by being assassins that has no qualms killing people for some greater good or whatever. What does my methods deserved to be frowned upon then, you hypocritical hussy?" Thirteenth said to her.
"That's not the point. In Night Raid, we are a team here. And you can't just-" Najenda is interrupted when she was grabbed by many rotting hands coming from underneath her.
Thirteenth held his scythe in hand before all of Night Raid has black smoke under them, "Don't even think about it. I can summon a zombie underneath you and they will devour you at your peril." He threatened before he glared at Najenda, "And as for you, boss. In case you are wondering, I am not working with the likes you. You and your Night Raid are nothing but allies of convenience and the only reason why you still live is because it is convenient to me. Know however that if you try to be problematic to me, I will dispose all you, myself. Do we understand each other?" Thirteenth threatened him.
Najenda glare at Thirteenth with only one eye before she breathed in, swallow her pride and said, "Crystal."
"Hmph."
Thirteenth then let her and all the members go as he walked away from the room, with everyone glaring at him.
"Asshole." Ieyasu stated and for the most part, no one objects.
