Chapter Eighty-Four - When You're Gone (SkyLin)

I always needed time on my own

Sky sighed, biting his lower lip tightly and running a hand through his silky disheveled hair.

I never thought I'd need you there when I cry

His eyes hurt and his cheeks were flushed and streaked with dry tears.

And the days feel like years when I'm alone

He let out a long sigh, puffy eyes staring at his hands that rested in his lap.

And the bed where you lie

The bed creaked slightly as he shifted his body to look at the empty space beside him.

Is made up on your side

The covers were pulled up and made up nicely. Totally unlike how it was before.

When you walk away I count the steps that you take

Sky bit his lip harder as the memories of his and Luclin's break-up racing through his mind behind his sad eyes.

Do you see how much I need you right now?

He felt stinging tears prick at the corner of his eyes and he struggled to blink them away.

When you're gone

'I can't keep doing this, Sky!' Luclin had screamed.

The pieces of my heart are missing you

'Doing what, Ethan?' Sky had shit back, hand taking through his hair.

Running a hand through his hair seemed to be a nervous trait he had.

When you're gone

'THIS! Us! Everything!'

The face I came to know is missing too

That had been when Sky had started to cry.

'W-what? What are you talking about, Ethan? What's wrong?' He asked, tying to hold back his tears.

The words I need to hear to always get me through the day

'Everything is wrong, Sky. I can't keep doing this shit. It's stressing me out.'

And make it OK

Sky sighed, tears beginning to slip down his cheeks.

I miss you

'Wha-what? Did... Did I do something wr-wrong?' He had asked, sniffling heavily.

I've never felt this way before

'No!' Luclin had practically yelled before calming down. 'No... I-I... I just need some time to myself... Okay?'

Everything that I do reminds me of you

Sky had sniffled and nodded, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand as Luclin began to pack his things.

And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor

Sky sighed deeply and tried to blink away the memories. His eyes caught on the hat Luclin had forgotten to grab that laid on the floor.

And they smell just like you,

He crawled to the foot of the bed and grabbed the hat, clutching it to his chest.

I love the things that you do

Tears dropped from his long, dark lashes and landed on the hat, staining it with tears.

When you walk away I count the steps that you take

Luclin had sighed and walked to the door, leaning against it for a brief moment. 'I'll, uh... I'll see you soon, 'kay?'

Do you see how much I need you right now?

Sky had sniffled and rubbed his eyes, nodding. 'Yeah... Sure... Whatever you say...'

When you're gone

Ethan had sighed, running his left hand through his shaggy brown hair.

'I'm not lying, Sky. Really. This isn't the end of us... You know?'

'Yeah... Yeah... Of course.'

The face I came to know is missing too

'Bye, Sky.' Ethan whispered before leaving.

When you're gone

The door had closed behind him and Sky had brought his knees to his chest, burying his face in them.

The words I need to hear to always get me through the day

'I love you, Luclin.' He had whispered almost silently.

And make it OK

But now Sky was all alone. With nothing but a damn hat to comfort him.

What had he done wrong?

We were made for each other

He had thought they were perfect together. Made for each other, even.

Out here forever

But, guess Luclin didn't think so.

I know we were, yeah, yeah

But that didn't stop him from believing it, even now.

All I ever wanted was for you to know

He sighed and plopped backward on to his back.

Everything I do, I give my heart and soul

Was it because he didn't love Sky? Was that it?

I can hardly breathe, I need to feel you here with me, yeah

Maybe Sky had been too needy, always wanting to be with Luclin and always trying to show his love.
