The midnight sky was pitch black with barely any stars. The moon was blocked out by clouds and a storm was brewing above.

Sky stood on Kyle's doorstep, his head down and his scruffy hair covering his Budder eyes.

You come to me with scars on your wrist

His sleeves were rolled up slightly, just enough to see ugly, puffy, red lines going across them horizontally.

You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this

Kyle's usually happy eyes were filled with a mix of sorrow and anger.

I just came to say goodbye

"I... I just came to say bye." Shy whispered out.

I didn't want you to see me cry, I'm fine

Tears welled up in his sorrow-filled eyes, "I'm fine... Really."

But I know it's a lie.

"No," Kyle stated harshly, "No, you're not."

This is the last night you'll spend alone

"Ye-yes I am."

Look me in the eyes so I know you know

Kyle grabbed the shifters chin, forcing him to look up, connecting their eyes.

I'm everywhere you want me to be.

"No, you aren't Sky. And you know it."

The last night you'll spend alone,

"But I'll make you better."

I'll wrap you in my arms and I won't let go,

He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Sky, pulling him into a tight hug.

I'm everything you need me to be.

He kissed the top of his head, rubbing circles in his back.

Your parents say everything is your fault

"They..." Tears slipped from the budder-lovers eyes, "They said it's my fault."

But they don't know you like I know you they don't know you at all

"They don't know you, Sky."

I'm so sick of when they say

"I'm so sick of it, Kyle."

It's just a phase, you'll be okay, you're fine

"I-it's not a phase... I can't help it."

But I know it's a lie

"I know, Sky. Shush, I know."

The last night away from me

"It's okay now, Sky. I promise." He cooed.

The night is so long when everything's wrong

Sky let tears slide down his cheeks, dripping small dark spots into Kyle's shirt.

If you give me your hand I will help you hold on

"I... I'm sorry, Kyle." Sky whispered.

Kyle petted his head. "Shush, it's okay, Sky."

Sky sobbed harder, curling his fingers around the fabric of Kyle's top.

I won't let you say goodbye,

"It's okay, Sky. I promise, I won't let anything happen to you."

I'll be your reason why.

"I swear." He kissed his head again, hugging him tighter."

The last night away from me

Sky sniffled and nodded.
