Sitting deep within the boreal forests of Mount Greylock lies the treehouses of Thunderbird Village (aka the Thunderbird Common Room). It's the only common room not within the grounds of Ilvermorny Castle and is the only one located outdoors. To reach the impossibly high treehouses, Thunderbird students must venture to the Lake Gate, located at the North Wall outside Thunderbird Tower (the former home of the Thunderbird Common Room. Now abandoned.). It's right on the western shore of Shrouded Lake. Hanging on one of the walls is a rather large tapestry that, daily, will change its overall design to reflect a different area of the world. Students must correctly name the location to have the tapestry open, and let them into the Village and to the treehouses. Each treehouse comes equipped with a fireplace, furniture, two or four beds, a closet for your clothes, a flat-screen TV, wi-fi, and a desk to do your homework and study.

The treehouses, themselves, hang on the innermost trees of Mount Greylock State Forest. A series of rope bridges and magical trees that move their branches for platforms are the modes of movement between the houses and the common room, which is located right beside the landing station for the house, underneath small gazebo-type roofing. There's a giant fire pit in the center of the village. The Common Room is also known as The Sanctuary.

The color scheme, decor, and furniture inside The Sanctuary mimic the desert lands and the coastlines that the Thunderbird calls home. This does not suggest though, that the Thunderbird doesn't have a welcoming homey feel to it. There are various suede and leather recliners, chairs, benches, and reclining sofas, along with one or two ottomans, in the Thunderbird common room near the small fireplace. On the opposite side of the common room from the fireplace, there is a Bay window that allows for an amazing view of the city of Adams down below, the Appalachian Trail, and the Shrouded Lake. This gives many options for the students to sit and relax after or in between classes. There is also a large cabinet piece filled with items and supplies for every good Thunderbird's newest exploration. It is restocked every morning by the school's helpers, so there will never be a day when one goes without a compass or a set of rations. A helpful thing when it comes to upperclassmen when it comes to their school duties. On the floor of The Sanctuary lies a Compass Rose, a symbol commonly associated with Thunderbird House with the words Per Aspera Ad Astra ("Through Adversity to the Stars") engraved on the floor. A door leads into the tunnels that run underneath the mountain. Students use these tunnels to get to the castle or to get to class on time. They have made signs of where the tunnels go. Be sure to bring your wand, as the tunnels are very dark and cold. Professor Goode, the Head of Thunderbird House, is also the only teacher who does not have her living quarters in the Common Room. Her quarters and her office are located in the Astronomy Tower.
