Professor Alister Breckenridge was born half-blood in Albany, New York on January 21, 1921. At the time, Albany was one of the largest wizard-friendly cities in New York state. In 1932, he was accepted into Ilvermorny School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry and was sorted into Pukwudgie. After graduating in 1939, he decided to get into politics, and ran for congress, helping to push for the repeal of the hated Rappaport's Law, which segregated the No-Maj community from the American Wizarding World and banned witches and wizards from befriending and/or marrying them. He got together with Congressman Perseus Fontaine of Maine (Agilbert's grandfather). In 1959, he announced that he would run for president. He lost. In 1965, Rappaport's Law was finally repealed by MACUSA President Honorius Pertshire of Tennessee and an old friend of Alister. Alister and Perseus' work had officially paid off. In 1966, he was named the new headmaster of Ilvermorny School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, a post that he held for 25 years and developed a lifelong friendship with Agilbert and taught Magical Politics on the side.

Alister was a spectator in the rise and fall of Lord Voldemort and was particularly adamant about keeping the Dark Lord's influence out and away from Ilvermorny and the magical United States. As a result, he was in regular correspondence with the headmaster of Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, Albus Dumbledore before his death, to keep an eye on Voldemort's movements in Europe and abroad. Upon Dumbledore's demise, he was unable to attend his old friend's funeral, however, he held a memorial in memory of the great Hogwarts Headmaster on the grounds of Ilvermorny. After his retirement in 1991, Alister returned to politics, becoming a senator in MACUSA hoping to continue his work in ensuring the liberty of American witches and wizards and ridding the influence of dark magic from the North American continent. He died peacefully in his sleep in 2010.
