There is a tradition at Ilvermorny that has been going on since the 1960s since MACUSA repealed Rappaport's Law. On the third day of school, students of every year and every house come together at Windsor Lake Park in North Adams for the beginning of the year party. This is the first of the many ways that students from all four houses can come together and interact with each other, as well as warmly and officially welcome the first years to their new school. Students get to play games including baseball, football, soccer, go swimming, hold contests, eat food, go fishing, play Quidditch, and do other things. In the winter, they hold another get-together at the park and hold fun activities including skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and playing football, and the biggest event is a massive snowball fight. Thunderbird always joins forces with Wampus to go up against the rest of the school. They eventually end up fighting against each other.
