Young witches and wizards who live in the state of Hawaii and the U.S. Territories and the islands close to the United States and those who choose not to attend Ilvermorny can have the option of being educated through corresponding courses. Students taking correspondence courses receive their homework, assignments, projects, etc. in the mail via Owl Post. All homework, assignments, projects, etc. are due by the end of the week and the owl must deliver them by the end of the week. Unlike assignments and projects at school, they are limited to seeing how they can only be small enough for an owl to fly back to Ilvermorny. Extensions can be given in certain circumstances such as being extremely sick, injured, etc., but are rarely given. Young witches and wizards must apply for correspondence before the deadline. Not many young witches and wizards take correspondence courses as there isn't a very high need for them.
