CHAPTER XL: THE PLEDGE

I KEPT MYSELF BUSY...TO FORGET THAT HE WASN'T HERE.

Siyempre, being the studious kid, ibinabad ko ang sarili ko sa pag-aaral. At bukod pa riyan, I've been doing some extracurricular activities that I didn't expect I would enjoy so much.

One was Archery.

Halos every after class nag-eensayo kami ni Pyke as preparation sa nalalapit na term exam.

Pyke. Yeah. I began calling Pysces that.

Sabi niya sa akin yun raw ang tawag sa kanya ng mga kaibigan niya at since magkaibigan na raw kami (well, according to him) pwede ko na raw siyang tawagin ng ganun.

I was taking our lessons seriously. Not just because archery was actually fun, but also because I thought I could learn a way to protect myself if things got out of hand.

Being the last oracle and all that jazz, siguro hindi naman masamang matuto akong gumamit ng pana para ipagtanggol ang sarili ko sa sinumang gustong tapusin ang buhay ko di ba?

I was fantastically brill! As in brilliant! Iyon ang sabi ni Pyke sa akin. Ang sabi pa niya I was a fast learner. In just a short period of time, gumaling na ako sa pagpana.

Oo mali talaga sila eh, kasi may HIMALA guys!!! May HIMALA!!!

Yeah, I could say it was a miracle really na mabilis kong natutunan iyon.

That was my weekdays.

On weekends, I was busy with my new club.

I declined all other invitations at tinanggap lang iyong galing sa P&F.

Hindi talaga natuwa si Eden nang malaman niya pero I had to join there. I need to go to P&F to do some personal investigation regarding Castiel's death.

Last week, I went to The Atelier—P&F Studio—to do some tasks as part of the club's so called initiation.

Pinaghanap ako ng mga serial killer movies ni Lee sa bodega ng club. Sobrang daming movies sa bodega nila!

From the classics to the new ones, lahat nandun. Daig pa nila ang sinehan sa sobrang dami ng pelikula nila.

I found three of my favorite serial killer movies:

1. Silence of the Lambs
2. Se7en
3. Zodiac

Natuwa naman siya nang ibigay ko ang mga iyon sa kanya.

"You've got an incredibly creepy taste in movies. I'm impressed." He said to me. "Next week your task will be more on clerical works. After that, you will no longer be a pledge but a candidate for induction."

Just lately, I found out na ang mga Clubs sa Agora ay parang mga fraternities. They had their own place or house na pwedeng tambayan ng mga members and they also had their own rules.

All clubs were allowed to invite anyone na ininominate ng mga high ranking officials nila. Once invited, you would be automatically labeled as a Pledge. If all the tasks given to you by the Officer in Charge (in my case, it was the Mafia Lord na si Lee) You would be endorsed as candidate for induction. Once inducted, that was when you would become an official and registered member of the club.

Alam ko naman na kahit hindi ko gawin ang mga tasks, makakapasok ako sa P&F.

"The Boss wants you here." Sabi ni Lee sa akin.

Ezrah, apparently nominated me.

At dahil sa siya ang pinakamataas na opisyal ng club, pwede akong mainduct nang hindi dumaraan sa initiation because as a rule, being recommended by the Club President makes you a direct candidate.
