They Become Everything

Everything you know, everyone you love; leaves sometime. Without a trace, without a word; you're left with nothing, but you and you and your dark thoughts. They become your best friend; they become your everything, until they finally take over. Until they are you, they replace everything; the happiness, the sadness. It replaces your heart and soul with darkness, numbness.

You're left dumbfounded, thoughtless. You become reliant on the invisible darkness that consumes you. You count on it, to guide you through the darkness - but, you don't see, this is the darkness you're trying to run from. You try run from yourself, you try escape your mind, you try hide from your body.

You have nothing to love, you have nothing to do - but you do have the one thing that pulls you down, yet keeps you stable - you have your darkness. You have the one thing that keeps you insanely sane, the thing that keeps you numbly alive - yet yearning to be dead. You don't bleed red anymore, you bleed black. You're oozing with pain and pure dullness.

Your social life is non-existent, you don't even remember how to interact 'acceptably'. You speak only hollow syllables, no meaning behind the voice that once held so much joy.

You wear a thunder cloud above your head, but you never have the joy of being struck with the bright lightening, you only have the disappointed, drenched clothing that clings to you - much like the darkness.
