“Oh, the places you'll go:" “Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way!” Theodor Geisel

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

Aspiration: “a hope or ambition of achieving something” New Oxford American Dictionary

Throughout history, successful people and influential events have been driven by a motivational forces rooted in hope and aspiration. There are very few people or nations in history who have had greatness or achievements forced on them. At some point they decided to jump at an opportunity, or take on a burden. In doing so, they achieved greatness. After WWII Theodor Geisel visited Japan, still harboring animosity towards the nation for their actions leading up to and during the war. However, the personal relationships he was able to foster in Japan helped him move past his entrenched animosity. Those new relationships enabled him to write an important allegorical book about the American post war occupation of Japan. It made clear the importance of people, even though you may not be able to see them, and the importance of rebuilding a strong country with goodwill. Today, Japan is one of the United States strongest and most important allies, and the book “Horton Hears a Who” by Theodor Seuss Geisel, (Dr. Seuss) the allegory of Japanese and US relations, still teaches children that people are important no matter how small; and anything is achievable not matter how big.
