As the fire quickly spread from tree to tree, Zoe quickly grabbed my hand and I grabbed Winter's, then we immediately started running. As we rushed away from the fire, we heard trees begin to snap and crackle behind us.

I looked over my shoulder as I ran and saw that the fire was completely engulfing the woods behind us and shouted out to Zoe.
"Zoe! You've burned the fucking woods down!"
Zoe looked over her shoulder at me.
"I didn't mean to! It was an accident!"
"Did you not think that exploding a tank in the woods was a bad idea!?"
"I forgot trees burned, okay!?"
"Wah!? How!?"
"I just didn't think that far ahead!"
"You're telling me!"
"Hey! In my defence, you didn't stop me!"
"..Guess you have a point there..but still! You could've thought it through!"
"I was relying on you to do that for me! You're the responsible one!"
"How the hell have you survived this long!?"
"I have no fucking idea!"

Once we were sure we were far away from the fire, we stopped running and took a breather. During our break, I made sure to smack Zoe's head for having such a dumb idea...and she made sure to smack me for not stopping her dumb idea.

After we had a break, we began our walk back to Woodbury, wich according to Zoe, wasn't too far away now.

Zoe walked beside me as I held Winter on my back. She kept looking back the way we came.
"Uh, it's not gonna spread to Woodbury, right?" She asked.
"It's a town, isn't it? You'll be fine."
She sucked air in through her teeth.
"About that..."
I paused walking and raised a brow at her and she nervously laughed.
"It's kinda...surrounded by woods..."
I closed my eyes and let out a loud groan.
"How far is Woodbury from the tank?"
She poked her two fingers together and avoided eye contact.
"Maybe two or three hours on foot..."
I let out a deep, disappointed sigh and began to walk again.
"Let's just hope it dies down before reaching Woodbury..."
"Is that possible?"
I looked to her.
"Well, without water...the chances are low."
She smiled and pointed a finger at me.
"But it is possible!"
"But the chances are low."
"It's possible though."
"You'd be lucky if the fire doesn't burn the whole woods down."
"It's still possible that it won't happen though."
"Are you even listening to me?"
"Yeah, you said the chances are low."
"So why is that good..??"
"It's still a chance that it won't happen."
I looked at her with my mouth agape.
"I mean...that's one way to look at it? I guess?"
She grinned and waved me off.
"I'm sure we'll be fine."
"You're not gonna do anything about it? Not even gonna try and put it out? Aren't you worried about Woodbury?"
"Y/n."

She stopped in front of me and rested her hands on my shoulders, looking at me with a serious look.

"That's effort."
"Well..yeah?"
"I can't be bothered to do that."
"It's literally your mess!"
She winked at me.
"Our mess."
"Nuh-uh. You did it. Don't bring me into it."
"As my bad idea advisor, you have failed me, therfore, it also also your mess."
"I..you..how does that even work!?"
"It just does."
She joined my side, linking her arm with mine and began to drag me along.
"Now, stop speaking sense. I intend to ignore the consequences of my actions."
"But the fire-?"
"I'm sure it'll solve itself."
"You can't just-"
"If I don't acknowledge the problem, it doesn't exist."
"But-"
"Shhhhh."
"But you can't just ignore it..?"
She groaned and tapped my shoulder.
"Y/n, even if I did try to stop it, how would I?"
"Buckets of water?"
"You think buckets of water would be enough to put out an entire wood?"
I thought for a moment.
"I guess not."
"Precisely, so there's no point in worrying about something we can't stop."
I shook my head at her.
"Your thought process never fails to amaze me."
"Thank you."
I rolled my eyes and nudged her.
"You better hope that fire dies down.."
"Eh, I'll worry about it when it comes down to it."
