Spring was finally here now and the snow had long gone. It was still cold, but not unbearably so, and the snowfall had been replaced by showers of rain.

As soon as the snow had fully melted away, Rick got ready to send out a small crew to go out on a run. Our supplies had lasted us through winter, but naturally, they're close to running out. And today was the day we were sending a group out.

Everyone sat around a big table in the cafeteria, eating breakfast together, ready to discuss today's run.

Carl and Sophia had chosen to sit next to each other, in-between Carol and I. And Winter was comfortably sat on my lap eating her breakfast, much to Daryl's dismay.

Rick cleared his throat and looked around at everyone.
"So we need volunteers for todays run.."
"I'll-"
Before I could even begin to talk, Maggie cut me off.
"You won't be going anywhere."
I looked to her with wide eyes.
"What? Why!?"
She gave me a stern look.
"You know why."
I grumbled and looked to Rick.
"I'm still volunteering."
"Y/n-"
Rick sighed and shook his head.
"I agree with Maggie this time, Y/n."
"What!?"
"Ye ain't goin' nowhere." Daryl added.
I raised a brow at everyone.
"It's just a run? I've been on plenty."
That sentence seemed to set everyone off. Everyone began to yell, complain and lecture me all at once.

It took a few moments before everyone finally calmed themselves. Though, their expressions were everything but calm. Everyone was glaring at me, especially Maggie. Hell, even Hershel was looking at me sternly, and he's never angry.

I looked around at everyone, a bit confused. It seemed like they were all still worried about what happened with the last run. But that was months ago! I'm better now!

"I'm perfectly capable of going on a run."
Rick shook his head sternly.
"You're not going. Not after last time."
"I came back, didn't I?"
"With an eye missing!" Carol cried.
"Yeah...but...I'm alive."
"Ye were covered in wounds an' half dead." Daryl added.
"...but alive!"
Maggie groaned.
"You're not going."
"Maggie-"
"You barely came back last time!"
"But I came back, didn't I? I'm not that easily killed."
She glared daggers at me.
"That's not the point."
"But-"
"No."
I looked to Michonne and she shook her head.
"You're on your own, sister."
I let out a loud sigh.
"You can't ban me just because of one incident."
Maggie sighed and wrapped her arm around my waist.
"I'm not. Just...Just not yet, okay?"
Daryl grumbled in agreement.
"Give it a little more time. Heal up. I don' wanna see ya like tha' again."
"Please." Carol begged.
"I prefer you in one piece." Added Michonne.
I sighed and nodded.
"Fine."
I looked up to Daryl and Rick.
"Just promise I can go next run. You know I hate being locked up."
They both smiled softly.
"Got my word." Rick nodded.
"Promise." Daryl added.

After deciding that Daryl, Michonne, Rick and Glenn would go, we all finished up our breakfast whilst talking about random, pointless things.

Since Rick was leaving for the run, as well as Daryl, who was essentially his second hand, he left Maggie and I in charge.

Maggie, Winter and I escorted the four of them to the gate and opened it for them so they could drive out.

Before Daryl got into Rick's car I stopped him and handed him a whistle whilst Maggie and Winter were seeing off the others.
"Wha's this fer?"
I smiled and nodded to it.
"Blow it."
He raised a brow and did as I said, but no noise came out.
"So Ye gave me a non-workin' whistle?"
"Give it a minute."
Just as I said that, little paws were heard rushing down the courtyard and over to us. After a few moments, Coco had pounced up Daryl.
He patted Coco, then looked to me.
"Dog whistle?"
I nodded and stroked Coco.
"Yeah. I'm lending it to you."
"Fer wha'?"
I nodded down to Coco.
"I wasn't just playing all winter, you know. I've trained them up a bit. She can go with you. The whistles to call her."
"Ye sure? What if she-"
"I know you'll look after her."
He looked down and a small smile spread across his face.
"Ya trust me tha much?"
I rested my hand on his shoulder and smiled.
"I trust you with my life, Daryl. You're my brother."
He brought me in for a small hug.
"An' yer my sister. Just an' annoyin' one."
I pulled away and reached for the whistle.
"I can always take Coco-"
He hid the whistle in his jacket and picked Coco up, running away with her.
"NO TAKIN' BACK. SHE'S MINE NOW."
"UNTIL YOU GET BACK!"
"NO. YOU GAVE HER TO ME!"
"FOR THE DAY!"
"MINE!"
