I was distracted.

Felling bad for Mystery.

I heard crashing and a loud scream, the musicians stopping.

"No!" A human shaped shadow stood in the entrance. "Not on my watch!" Mystery's voice overshadowed the scared screams of the people as flames burst through, making this shadow man screech as she kicked it down and rolled inside.

She stood up with her back to us and ready to fight as fear set in, my mind instantly switching to a familiar fear as this shadow man is clearly a threat to someone in here.

Probably me.

It must be after my life.

There were more screams, true fear overcoming the masses as they saw this thing was fighting Mystery, a powerful mage, gods their fame is a double edged sword.

I saw the human shadow melt into a blob and fly through the air, straight towards me.

In fear, people pushed away from me.

Mystery blasted it away with air and blocked the way by standing in front of me, I leaned back a bit, a hand on the table behind, ready to hop on over it if I need to get away.

I saw Emersme throw his hand out while jumping on the table, the other tables sprouting branches that tried to catch this liquid shadow but it was weaving around them.

He jumped down off the table and Mystery shoved me towards him as she let a jet of flame out.

I caught myself and crouched behind the tough mage, eyes crossing with Mystery before she looked up ahead and a look of surprise came over her before the black shape slammed into her chest and sent her tumbling back with a lot of force, hitting the table and flipping her over it.

Why did it still go after her when I am behind Emersme?

I did quickly forget my question as I heard a scream.

"Mystery!" I looked up as Eleric pulled me to my feet, seeing Emersme by Mystery's side and my blood froze.

She was coughing and gripping her throat as if she was suffocating, she probably was as her face turned red and she just kept coughing out black, staining her face.

"What's going on?!" Eleric voiced his worry as I couldn't talk, watching as her mage-hood brother picked her off the ground.

"We need to go now!" Emersme screamed with real worry which shocked me back in control of my body as he ran passed us, I was the first to follow.

"What's going on?!" I asked what Eleric had again.

"We need Belladonna and fast!" He yelled back but wouldn't explain more.

He shifted her in his arms and threw his hand out, a blast of air knocking me back but sending him into a much faster sprint.

By the time we got to the castle worry was eating away at me.

We found mother awake in front of the room's door speaking with a guard before looking at us.

"You are all aware this is your fault." I lowered my head and the rest of my siblings probably did the same.

"Yes mother." Eleric said.

"Good, you are forbidden from ever going out at night am I understood?!"

"Yes mother."
