Volume 3 Author's Rants

Heyo! Cenonn here! And welcome again to my author's rants. We are now done with the third volume of From Another World. If you stuck with it for this long, thank you very much! You are awesome!

It's supposed to be a series of arcs called "More shenanigans in another world." Mikage just recovered his memories and he was now back to the daily grind in another world. And of course, his first problem came from Suisei.

Idol Fan Tournament Arc (Chapter 41-52, Maio 14-18)

A story is not complete without a TOURNAMENT ARC!! This one's a pretty long arc if you'll ask me and I had some trouble writing out the fight scenes.

Why did I want to have a tournament arc? Because I wanna test the limits of my abilities while also having a good excuse to make the characters fight each other. I'll talk about my impressions on each fight in the following.

Temma vs Suzaku:

The first fight is between my fave Holostar, Temma, and one of the retired members, Suzaku. Now then... At first, I thought of making Suzaku win. After all, it'll be a huge surprise if he does. But my bias for Temma won in the end so I made him win.

Also, Temma showed his trump card which was the Mist of Deceit. Why mist? Because I based it off of the anime called Katekyo Hitman Reborn. The mist there created illusions so I thought it would be pretty cool for Temma to fight with it.

Suzaku also showed how skilled he was in the sword. In the end, Temma won in their fight. You might ask me why Suzaku, who was clearly more skilled in swordsmanship, lost against Temma. The answer to that was very simple: Temma enhanced his muscles and sight against him. That's why he won. If it was just pure sword skills, he would've lost completely.

Kiara vs Mikage:

The second fight is between Kiara and Mikage. There was no way Mikage could win against an immortal phoenix right? That's why I added the ribbon rule in the tournament. Each and every contestant can easily defeat the poor guy so I decided to give him an advantage.

Kiara is a bottom left. That's why I made sure she would lose in a manner fitting of that title. Burning her own ribbon is a huge kusa moment that I hoped made you laugh.

Botan vs Noel:

Botan and Noel's fight was pretty one-sided. I had no idea what Botan's fighting style could be so I just went with the classic martial arts. Despite being a beastwoman, she would lose against Noel.

In case you didn't notice, Noel being too powerful when using both of her hands is a reference to Bleach. Kinda like how Zaraki Kenpachi became powerful when he used both of his hands in swinging down his sword.

Oga vs Arurandeisu:

A lot of my readers were hyped on how Aruran would fight. After all, he was a pretty scary mafia boss. However, I decided to give him one nerf.

Since he was from another world, his mana capacity was very low. That's why he used his riches to fight using Stored Magic. The power of money is awesome.

Oga is pretty strong since he was a war veteran so I decided to make him advance to the next round.

Mikage vs Temma:

The fight between the master and student. I thought of making Mikage lose in this fight. After all, there was no way he should be able to win against Temma, right? However, a friend of mine said that if Mikage would win, he would have a hard time believing it. That's why I made him win just to spite him. HAH!

Still though... The reason Mikage won was because Temma underestimated him. The blond knight knew what our MC was capable of so he relaxed a bit. He didn't expect to get tricked and had his ribbon cut.
