Stereotypes are something that are really annoying because they get to a point where the writer doesn't even have a reason anymore for why they're that stereotypical character. They just are.

The one stereotype that drives me crazy (book title reference, hehe) is the blonde cheerleader.

Here's the stereotype:

blonde hair
• rich
• cheerleader (usually captain)
• slut
• dating the most popular guy
• bitchy
• picks on unpopular people

Now, watch as I dispute all these stereotypes based on the very wattpad stories who establish them in the first place.

(1) These girls are sluts

You know, this word is taken a bit too lightly.

Slut shaming, they call it.

Just because someone wears short skirts doesn't automatically make them a slut.

Most of the time, these blondies aren't even sluts for Pete's sake

(why is it always for Pete)

They literally date the SAME FREAKING GUY!

This is how it works:

The girl will have dated the popular guy for a long time, about a year prior to the prude's arrival. Then, because the prude was always the right one for him (after 3 days of talking), he'll break up with blondie.

Blondie will then spend the rest of the book hating on the prude for stealing her boyfriend.

Now, the fact that our blondie is obsessing over ONE DAMN GUY in the whole book makes her a slut? Get your facts right, man!

(But in some novels she actually is a slut and still has a boyfriend, so sometimes my logic doesn't always apply).

(2) They constantly pick on unpopular people

Now I don't know about you but the 'popular' people in my school don't even talk to 'unpopular' people.

Tell me if I'm wrong.

But honestly, it never makes sense that they're that obsessed with the unpopulars because they never even hang out together (in these books).

To be honest I think they have better things to do than pick on insignificant people so if you're a writer and you're trying to justify her bitchiness in this way please be more realistic

(3) They are bitches to the prude girl

(YOU KNOW THIS ONE I CAN ALLOW BECAUSE I WOULD BE A BITCH TO THE PRUDE GIRL TOO OMFG SHE IS ANNOYING AS HELL)

But tell me this:

>You've been dating this guy for a while now.
>A random girl comes to your school.
>She talks to him very little, but you see a few sparks between your boyfriend and this new girl.

Would you let her continue to talk to him?

Let's continue:

>You threaten her for talking to your guy.
>You're seen as a possessive bitch.
>He dumps you for her, and the whole school is happy with that.

Okay pls pls I swear if you guys say you'll be all smiles and best friends with the prude girl after all this shit I will literally flip on you

Like the whole school is happy to watch your downfall, that is so mean like I would run away and cry

Not that I encourage y'all to be mean to people, but it's more than understandable when the blondie is like "I don't want to see you near my boyfriend, is that clear?" to the prude. Because yea. He's her boyfriend.

And the prude never even feels bad about it because (see next point):

(4) The blondie has no heart

She's portrayed as having no feelings whatsoever. None at all, it's like she's not even human.

I hate that

It's like the way lots of people find it okay to be so horrible to celebrities just because they're celebrities?

(I apologise for all my 1D insults)

But anyway, it's not fair that prude girl can steal blondie's boyfriend and get away with it

In fact someone needs to write a story from the blonde girl's perspective. It sooo needs to be done!

Sometimes I think I should write spin-off books based on my rants

(Then I remember how lazy I am)

(5) Her relationship with popular boy was fake

Many writers make the boy open up to prude girl, saying that the only reason he dated (or is dating) blondie is because of social pressure and that they never really had much of a relationship because of bla bla bla and bullshit

But why did they stay together that long then?

Like dude I'll say that 57.321% of the books I read with this plot had made blondie date the guy for not less than 6 months

That's a fucking long time

But if they've never really had a relationship, if anything, a break up will make them more popular

(True story)

But yea tbh I just hate this popular guy and his reasoning in fact I need to rant about him soon

(6) She doesn't care about anything else other than her looks.

I'll only say one thing: the fact that she's captain of the cheer squad? Head of prom committee? Class President or whatever?

Those are extra-curricular activities.

Universities like that.

She'll be the one getting into Yale, k.

(But lol tbh the prude girl will obviously get into Yale too considering she spent all her time with the guy and still got straight As)
