Lol so I think that 'gaahh' is my new word

Do you think we can make that a trending hashtag, lol

A girl can dream, okay.

This rant is directed at no one in particular; neither the readers nor wattpad itself. But it's just something that irritates me no end...

How the most irrelevant first chapter has the most reads.

So let me explain myself here. By irrelevant chapter I actually refer to the first post on a book that you ever see. It's usually the blurb or an author's note or plagiarism warnings or something like that, you know what I mean?

Like the first post of this rant book is "So, Here's the Sitch" (WHATTUP KIM POSSIBLE REFERENCE) where I basically introduced the book and shit and said that i dont want to offend y'all and all that boring shit you have to clear up beforehand.

But, despite it being the most boring and irrelevant chapter, lawddd it has 5000 reads - more than any of my other chapters.

Like I just hit 50k overall...

(omg guys I was hyperventilating when I saw that, merci/gracias/ danke/ asante/ arrivederci...that means goodbye, doesn't it. What is thank you in Italian? OMG do any Italians read this book that would be so cool ahhhh speak up wherever you are!)
(Italians are sexy okay. There used to be this sex god of an Italian in my school yea, he taught me Italian swear words and shit).

It's ridiculous how I get distracted so easily.

But he was so hot.

Goddamit.

*smacks head*

So what I was saying is that if you do the maths, you will see that 5,000/50,000 = 1/10

So basically the reads on my very first post makes up for A TENTH of my total reads

And it's like why? Why why why? Why the most reads per chapter on the chapter I don't give the least amount of shits about?

Like I said, I'm not blaming ANYONE at all in particular.

But, if you have/ write your own book on wattpad too, you might understand this struggle lol

Coz like the first bit is the stupid laws you have to put k

It's so annoying k

Usually more so when you're starting out, coz like the boring post would have 100 reads then the first chapter of the actual story has like 2 reads

lol

I understand that it gets harder to keep your readers interest after the first chapter, because statistically only about 15% of the readers will put it in their library* and keep reading the new updates, but gaaahh idk

*study [not really] carried out by genie_us. Probably fucking wrong, but close enough.

So like yea it's just something that annoys me because why can't the reads be spread out okay, so that we as authors feel like you're actually reading the story and not only our copy-pasted copyright infringement warning thingis

Comment and let me know that I'm not in this struggle alone

But GAAH, the struggle is damn real.

I really shouldn't complain though. 50k reads, holy guacamole!

I'm so grateful. Thank you all.
