pt. 3
after dinner, i remember ben saying that we were going somewhere afterwards. he never did tell me and didn't want to tell so i just sat in the passenger seat clueless on where we were going.
"am i getting kidnapped?" i asked cause i was curious. he laughed and glanced at me. "no, i'm not kidnapping you" he assures. "okay" i nodded my head feeling a little bit less nervous.
oh my god, watch it be a sex store. nooo i want to die just from thinking about that
ben pulled up to the mall and i looked at him. he parked the car and looked at me. probably sensing i was staring at him. "the mall" i say blankly. "yeah, you could buy you a few things. my treat" he handed me and envelope. i looked at him before looking down at it and opening it. a shocked expression came onto my face as i seen money inside of it. i looked at him with my eyebrows still raised. "and how much is this?" i tilted my head.
"twenty grand" he says like it was nothing. "twenty what?" i say astonished. "I've had twenty dollars before. but twenty grand...wow" i say but mostly to myself.
what am i supposed to do with this much money? i never had this much. i feel weird—uncomfortable with this in my hand. aw i don't deserve this

i come back to reality and see my door open with ben standing beside it. "i'm sorry" i apologize getting out of his car. we head towards the mall. it was night so there wasn't many people to go through.
"buy yourself something nice" he smirks looking at me. "okay—i need to go to the restroom first" i give him the envelope and walk away. "alright. i'll be outside"
i go inside a stall and pull out my phone. i went through my contacts and found maddi's pressing the facetime button.
"helloooo" she greets with a smile putting diana and gina in the frame with her.
"i...can't...lots..of-mon—too much..i...no" i broke down having tears come from my eyes nonstop.
"aww tears of joy. she's so happy" gina smiles taking a bite from her salad. causing maddi to let out a high tone giggle not long before having a laughing fit at gina's dumbness.
"i knew she was going to break down today. i knew it" maddi says nothing helping the situation. "how much?" diana asks. probably the only one who understood some of the words that came out. "twenty grand" i sniffed wiping my tears.
"holy moly! on your first day!?" diana exclaimed. "what did you do, suck him off?!" maddi asked serious cause she wanted an answer. "i'm supposed to be shopping-" i started to say but maddi cut me off.
"then start shopping. and then go to victoria's secret and have sex with him in the dressing room because you need to say thank you-"
"he's not that type" i told her remembering her saying that there were different kinds of them. "ohh that sucks" maddi says. "just go out and just buy things that you've always wanted. you have to make it seem like you accept the money" diana tells me. "yeah, even if you don't want it you have to accept it because that's how it works" maddi comments.
"i'll try to find something. knowing me that won't be hard" i laugh thinking about how i buy stupid things. "awesome! buy birth control cause i'm sure his di-" before maddi could finish her sentence i presses the red and and and left from the bathroom stall. i looked at myself in the mirror and see that some of my makeup was ruined. i looked through my purse. it only had a few things inside: charger, chapstick, lipgloss,
"makeup wipes" i pull out the small pack pulling out a wipe to clean my face. after i finished making sure there were no smear anywhere. i left out of the restroom meeting with ben sitting in one of the waiting chairs in his phone. he noticed my presence and stood up putting his phone back in his pocket.
"all good?" he asks genuinely. "yeah" i mumbled nodding my head. he stood there looking at me for a minute. thinking i did have some makeup smears i rubbed my face checking my fingers. "is there makeup still?" i rubbed some small parts of my face. he shook his head no.
"no. i just noticed you took off your makeup"
"yeah, it...smudged" i let out as we began to walk around the mall. "you look stunning. not saying you don't look like that with makeup on. you look stunning either way. you look good" he concluded wanting to end his rambling sooner. i look away to hide my smile. i rubbed my face on my shoulder out of habit when i get complimented. "thank you"

i looked at the dress i had on in the dressing room. he said that he'll be going to events and i didn't have many dresses so i used maddi's half of the time. i walk out and show ben seeing if it was even appropriate.
"how about this one?" now that i left the comfort zone of the dressing room and showed ben, who was basically an acquaintance at this point, i felt like the dress didn't look great anymore. i felt this way about the other two dresses i tried on already.
"you look gorgeous" he says looking at me. "the dress is too" he smiled slightly scanning my body before looking back at me. it was not that i realize he said this a while ago about the others i had on.
he was complimenting me more than the dresses—how am i supposed to know which is better? no, y/n you say thank you
"you should get all three" ben says from behind the door. i put my clothes back on and looked at the three dresses in my hands. deciding to go with his suggestion i took them up to the counter. the woman gave me a look which made me feel uncomfortable and regret filling me for coming to this store.
"that'll be thirteen hundred dollars and ninety cents" she dragged out the 's' cents as she looked from the register and to me with a judging look. she glanced over at the dress i was wearing. "alright...i guess you could get a little discount" she spoke in a rich voice—or in way she thinks she better. i give her the money and she slightly snatches it out of my hand. "thank you have a nice day" she give a fake smile handing me my bag. i grab it and walk out of the store.
"she's seems nice" i sarcastically smile at him.

it's only been a few weeks since the closing of the deal and a few weeks of me having a breakdown about money. me and ben hung out rarely since he works a lot. he would invite me over sometimes to hang out which i didn't mind cause i had nothing to do since maddi told a lie to my boss and got me fired. she said it was for 'business purposes' so as of right now because of that i was with him.
"let's go somewhere" he looks away from the tv and at me. "okay, where?" i put my arm on top the couch and rest my head on my hand. "where do you want to go?"
"uhmm" i look down thinking. "i always wanted to gamble, so maybe vegas?"
"as you wish" he stands up. "i'll take you home so you can pack"
"wait we're leaving right now? like right now, right now?" i ask to make sure as i wasn't prepared for it to happen this quickly. "yeah, i'm off work the whole week"
"a week in vegas?!" gina, diana, and maddie exclaim simultaneously. "do you know what could happen?!" maddie says excitedly. "ooh she can join a gang!" gina smiles. "win loads of money!" diana says next. "sex" maddi sighs dreamily but jumps out of her thoughts quickly as she seen our facial expressions. "i think you need therapy mads" diana says to her. "or win money" she corrects herself.
"i'm not doing those things. i'm going to gamble but i'm sure i'll lose anyways. and me and ben are on nice terms right now, don't want to make things awkward"

"i know! i know he's that! but he's still a person and we're friends! that's it"
"vegas changes people" maddi states. "something is bound to happen. my psychic abilities tell me so" she says confidently.
"yeah, okay raven" i chuckle rolling my eyes at her. i stood up and began to pack a weeks worth of clothes with their help.
"you need lace" maddi scrolls through her phone. "what?" i look at what's she's doing seeing she was in the victoria secret app. "stop it!" i yell at her trying to grab her phone. "i have instant shipping!" she runs away from me.
