In the 2nd day of the week, Noctis is eating lettuce from a bowl as my eyes were on him to make sure he didn't hide or throw the food away. He groaned in frustration of eating something tasteless but I could careless. He lost the wager and now, he must get greens for the whole week. We were alone in the dinning room with the whole room being grand as the next room with a tint of gray color on the walls. There were a few elegant patterns that were painted into the wall that made it more calming and with the the big window lighting the morning light. We sat near the end of the marble table that had two plates stacked with the napkins to top it off. The silverware is placed next to the plates and a wine glass near it. He forcibly swallowed the last of the lettuce and let at a sigh of relief.
"I'm done eating, Alice...Can't we...agree on...something..else..than this?" He asked while struggling to breath with eating something he's never gotten used to and I replied,
"Hell no, vegetable hater."
"Dammit,...Alice..." He whined as I raised an eyebrow to challenge him to stop me, he looked at me and felt defeated.
"Thought so, goth." I said as he groaned while burying his face in his hands, the doors opened to reveal King Regis with Cor walking inside the dinning room and took their sits across from us. I greeted Regis with his nickname and Cor sighed as if annoyed that I call the King that. Too bad. The servants placed breakfast in front of us as today's menu is pancakes, bacon, sausage and fruit. One of the servants was about to take the bowl that was fill of vegetable away from Noctis, I held my hand out and shook my head 'no'. The servant looked confused until I tilted my head to Noctis who is still sulking and the servant has a big grin on her face. She bowed and left. King Regis and Cor saw the interaction. They looked at me confused as I started to eat breakfast, I took 7 pancakes, 6 bacons, 5 sausages, and a big bowl of fruit. Everyone at the table is amazed by the amount of food I have and Cor asked,
"Kid...You going to eat all that?"
"Yep. This is good food that deserved to be eaten." I replied as I started to eat, Noctis is reaching for the fruit and I said,
"Touch that fruit and I will extend the vegetable deal for another week."
Noctis physically gulped at the table as his hand froze over the table, he grabbed a plate of pancakes, bacon and sausage. I groaned in defeat as the other men didn't know what's going on and Regis asked,
"Alice, why can't my son eat fruit today?"
Noctis froze before eating as he glared at me, giving me the look of 'don't tell' and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Vegetable hater is on trial."
"Trial, kid?" Cot raised eyebrow and Regis looked at his son as if he did something wrong, Noctis raised his hands in defeat and Regis glanced at me again.
"Yep, he lost the wager and going to eat greens for whole week." I replied as both men looked surprised and Cor asked,
"Why did his highness lost a fight?"
"We didn't fight. We danced." I answered
"Danced?" Regis and Cor said confusion
"Yep, we did dance dance revolution." I said as Noctis's eye is twitching at me for telling them, he was about to say something until Regis said,
"Oh! You mean DDR, right?"
"...So, that's what the gossip is today." Cor said as he started to eat his pancakes and Regis asked
"Gossip?"
"Yes your majesty, all my recruits were talking about Alice and Noctis about some dance off. Then they told the servants and it became quite the favorite subject." Cor replied as Noctis gave me a angry face of 'I'm going to make you pay' and continue to eat his food in frustration. As if he can beat him, idiot. The rest of time during breakfast was peaceful as it ended soon and Regis had to go back to work. Today, we went to the training room for Noctis's training with Gladiolus. I sat this one out because I wanted to observe there fighting style. For about 3 or 4 hours, they fought well. My eyes recognized their movements and recorded in my brain for my mission. As they continued to train, my mind is reeling in the message I received last night after the wager with Noctis.
Flashback
"(f/n)." I hear Medusa's voice ring through my head as if I was receiving a phone call and sat on my guest bed. My eyes closed to reopen to a grid like world that is colored in green and blue. I was standing in front of Medusa and Ardyn.
"Hello, Medusa." I said as Medusa nodded in acknowledgement, Ardyn frowned and asked,
"(f/n), I'm here too."
"..."
"(f/n), father needs your attention."
"Your not my father." I spatted out as Ardyn grinned in victory, Medusa sighed and asked,
"How are you holding up?"
"I'm doing well. Lying is easier than I thought but I have to keep up the lies." I replied
"Yes, you do, Number #1. It's key to our plan to steal the Crystal. I'm calling you because I want to know if you done your report on the Kinglavies and the Marshal."
"...I'm having a difficult time to approach the Marshal since he is always on guard. I haven't meet any of the Kinglavies yet." I answered as Medusa hummed, Ardyn sighed and said,
"I told you the Marshal is always on guard, my dear. He's something we don't want to mess with but it would be interesting to see if he stand against you, (f/n)."
"What are you implying?"
"I'm simply saying you should fight him to test your skills."
"If she does that, she will be exposed, fool." Medusa growled at him to shut up but Ardyn continued,
"Think about it, Medusa. We need a test run on the Marshal and since (f/n) is there; she doesn't need to use full strength. She can act weak in front of him."
Medusa thought for a moment and sighed.
"(f/n), this is a side order you must complete. Fight the Marshal at 30%; don't use your full strength and record him. Then bring me your report." Medusa said
"At once." I said
End of Flashback
I yawned as the two boys were done, they came to me and sat down.
"You tired, missy?" Gladiolus asked as I nodded my head in pretend, Noctis looked at me closely and asked,
"Did you have trouble sleeping last night, Alice?"
"...Yeah, had a nightmare. No problem." I answered as Noctis looked concerned, he was about to say something and Cor came inside the training room with a few recruits; ready for today's lesson. My eyes were on him like a hawk as he started his lesson, he stopped talking midway and turned to look at me as if he sensed that I was looking at him. We had this staring contest as everyone around us is confused on what's going on until Noctis nudged my shoulder and whispered,
"Alice, can stop staring at Cor? I don't think he likes that."
I ignored Noctis as I got up from my seat, my feet started to walk towards him and he did the same. We stopped in the middle of the room and our eyes still didn't waver from each other. The others around us whispered of what's going on or about to happen. I felt his energy is...powerful like a wolf that didn't reveal his true strength when needed against a worthy opponent. I've heard about him in Niflheim that is the strongest member in the Crownsgurads and he beat one of the strongest members on our side. The energy is there in front me swirling into the air like fire but there was a hint of sorrow that I couldn't place and didn't want to know...yet. We didn't speak for a while as I broke the ice and asked,
"So, your Cor, the Immortal?"
"...What's it to you, kid?" Cor asked
"Everything, Immortal. I hear stories about your strength and swordsmanship. It's legendary."
"Is that suppose to be compliment?"
"...Hardly, I want to know something about you, Cor."
"What's that?"
"Can you beat me, Cor the Immortal?" I asked sternly as the people hushed at my question, Noctis and Gladiolus were getting nervous about my actions towards Cor. He looked at me with a raised brow as if that was a challenge and replied,
"Interesting, you are challenging me, kid? You got guts I'll give you that."
"My name is not kid, Immortal. It's Alice and I challenge you; Cor the Immortal to fight." I said as Noctis and Gladiolus were utterly shocked of what I was asking. Both men came to me and grabbed me from behind.
"Sorry Cor, we don't know what's gotten into Alice." Gladiolus said
"Yeah, she's just tired from today." Noctis added as I looked at both men who were panicking, they started to drag me away from Cor and he said,
"Noctis, Gladiolus, let her go."
Both men stopped and looked at Cor who looked ready to fight.
"Cor, she's didn't mean it. She's just-"
"Noctis, Gladiolus, stay back and that goes for you new recruits as well. Don't intervene with this fight." Cor said as the recruits were surprised at what he said but did as they were told. Noctis and Gladiolus walked away to the sidelines. They looked very worried as I shrugged my shoulders about their worry and my eyes returned to Cor who is releasing his sword. The recruits were wondering why Cor is willing to fight me and Cor said to them,
"Recruits! This is your lesson for today. Pay attention to our fight and then you are done. Am I clear?"
"Yes, sir!" The new recruits shouted as scooted back more for Cor, I cracked my knuckles to release some pressure and got into a battle stance.
"You know, kid, no one challenges me much because I'm too strong of a sparring partner. Since your new here, let's do a wager. You like those right, kid?"
"hmmm, interesting for you to ask. The wagers are only for Noctis; not you." I asked as I was getting concerned of what he wants, Noctis raised a brow of why Cor wants a wager with me and Cor shrugged his shoulders of my words.
"Doesn't matter to me, kid. I want to make a wager with you. Here's what I want: If I win, you have to tell me why you were in the middle of nowhere and what your purpose is." His eyes were piercing mine as I felt something sticking up...goosebumps, I think is what it's called. It wasn't fear I was feeling right now.
"If you lose?"
"...I teach you one of my legendary moves to you; no strings attached and I won't ask about you." Cor said as everyone is shocked of what Cor is offering and I replied,
"You sure you want to go through this, Cor? Last chance to back down."
"Very cute, kid. I don't back down when I'm challenged."
I shrugged my shoulders and said,
"...It's a deal then. You sealed your fate with me. Let me properly introduce myself. My name is Alice, the traveling warrior seeking legends. I'm here to beat your legend, Cor."
"Hmph. My name is Cor Leonis, also known as Cor, the Immortal. Are you ready to die, kid?"
"You will die first; Cor, the Immortal." I said as we started to charged at each other, my feelings were all over the place in this coming fight and one feeling that is more powerful right now is....excitement.
Yay! I finally updated!! I hope you like it! If you were wondering why Cor is just staring at (f/n) at times...well...this is the reason: they wanted to fight.
