Hayley had disappeared about two hours ago letting me know she was going to explore the house out of boredom. Which is the reason I decide to go look for her. The mansion is huge so at the least my search will waste time. Not like I have anything to do since I'm basically a prisoner. After about thirty minutes I find her on the floor of the dining room reading an old bound book.

"Whatcha doing?" I ask, startling her a little.

"Jeez." She breaths out putting her hand on her chest. "Don't sneak up on me like that."

"Why are you so jumpy?" I shrug. "Reading something you're not suppose to?" Bumping her shoulder in a teasing manner.

   "Actually, I found..."

"I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me." Rebekah's voice interrupts Hayley's from the other room. Sharing a look we carefully make our way towards the living room and foyer. "You know how I love to set things on fire." She adds causing me to stifle a chuckle.

"Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot?" Niklaus asks amusement clear in his voice. "Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless, pregnant girl who's carrying my child." He says causing Hayley to roll her eyes and me to huff in annoyance.

   "Helpless my ass." I mutter.

"Oh, I am so moved by your newfound sense of fatherly duty towards the werewolf carrying your Hybrid bun in her oven." Rebekah sasses causing Niklaus to let on a laugh. The first one I think I've ever heard come from him. Hayley and I walk around the corner into the foyer.

"The werewolf would like to know what the plan is." I state pulling their attention to us.

"Well, that depends what you mean, Love." Niklaus smirks casually leaning against the living room entry way with his arms crossed. "My plan for global domination or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world." Rebekah quickly picks up a pencil sitting next to her and vamp throws it towards his face which, of course, he easily catches.

"I'm so glad you have jokes, Love." I mock while rolling my eyes.

"She means the plan to rescue Davina and Elijah, you know, the good brother, the one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back." Hayley retorts, Niklaus' smirk still sitting on his smug face.

"In the front, if we're being specific."

"You two said that you would get him back. So is there a plan, or what?" Hayley inquires again.

"Okay." Niklaus says while turning into the living room with us following. "Well, firstly, Marcel is not my mortal enemy. He's my friend." He sits in the chair next to the window as the three of us girls linger in the doorway. "Albeit one who is unaware that I am trying to sabotage his hold on the supernatural community of the French Quarter, but a friend nonetheless, and secondly, I daggered Elijah in order to gain Marcel's trust. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I certainly would have weighed my options a bit differently." I scoff when he unashamedly calls my sister nasty. "And thirdly, sister, please." He gestures to Rebekah.

"And thirdly, the plan, as you have demanded, is for Niklaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back." She replies nonchalantly.

"Which is obviously not the whole plan." I state knowing better. "Because I know you guys are not naïve enough to think Marcel is just going to roll over because you ask nicely."

"Of course not." Rebekah declares with a slight chuckle. "Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling, but there is none more diabolical."

"That's only the plan 'A', Love." He states clearly. "There's always a plan 'B'."

"And what's plan 'B'?" Hayley intercepts.

"War." "War." He says smugly and I say sarcastically with an eye roll at the same time.

"Totally saw that coming." I mutter earning laughs from Hayley and Rebekah while Niklaus carries the same smirk he has throughout the entire conversation.

Awhile later Hayley and I heard Sophie enter the house and her, Rebekah, and Niklaus decide to have a discussion in the living room. The closed double door definitely do not discourage Hayley and me from eavesdropping.

"Are you out of you mind?" Sophie lets out. "No way."

"It's very simple. We need you to perform a teeny, tiny locator spell to help us find our brother." Rebekah tries to persuade her.

"Witches who practice magic in this town get caught, and they get killed." Sophie exclaims.

"Yes. About that, it seems you left out a crucial detail when we made our deal." Niklaus speaks up. "Marcel's secret weapon, the way he knows when a witch is using magic."

"Girl about yay high, cute as a button, anger issues." Rebekah follows up causing me to roll my eyes.

"Davina?" Sophie breathes out causing my eyebrows to scrunch together and Hayley to let out a shaky breath. "Where have you seen her?"

"I don't know." Rebekah answers. "The little girl eased my memory right after she threw me out a window with her bloody mind."

"Let me cut to the chase." Niklaus says. "Davina has Elijah. You witches, I assume, want to get Davina away from Marcel. We don't know where she is. Ergo, we need magic." I send a glare Hayley's way signaling I was getting pissed off.

"Davina would sense it." Sophie tries.

"Unless, of course, another witch, say, a traitor to the cause, Katie, for example was to perform much more powerful magic at the same time." Rebekah offers a solution. "That would create a smokescreen concealing your very small spell from Davina."

"Katie doesn't deserve to die." Sophie defends causing me to roll my eyes. She has no problem threatening my baby's life.

"Sophie Deveraux" Niklaus demands sounding displeased. "You're in no position to be so principled. You can't win a war without a few strategic losses, no matter how regrettable they might be. How many times have the vampires been one step ahead, known something they shouldn't?" He tries to get her on board with their plan. "Your sister executed in the public square for practicing magic. Who knew she'd be caught? Did she even attempt to flee?"

"She was caught hiding in a cargo hold of a freighter before it set sail down the Mississippi." Sophie says almost making me feel bad for her. Almost.

"And who, pray tell, of Marcel's valued inner circle manages his business at the docks?" He inquires.

   "Katie's boyfriend, Thierry."

Hayley and I share a look before sneaking back upstairs. Once we made it to our shared bathroom I turn on the water in the shower to hopefully conceal our voices. I pull myself up on the counter letting my feet dangle.

"They've lost their minds if they think I'm just going to let them hand Davina to the witches just to get Elijah back." I protest.

"Maybe they're just saying that to get Sophie to agree." Hayley shrugs.

   "Better be."

"What's interesting is that she wants Davina at all." Hayley adds.

"I know right. And where the hell is Davina's mom?" I ask rhetorically. "Does Marcel have her somewhere too?"

"I doubt it. Maybe the witches have her somewhere."

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out what the hell's going on." I say determined. "And the Mikaelson's seem to be on our side but I'm on Davina's. The second they decide that her well-being isn't their concern I'm out of here. I don't care what Niklaus does or says."

"He'll kill us if we go against him."

"I came here to find Vina and that's what I'm going to do. She's the only family I have left, besides you. I'm not losing her." I declare.

   "Then I'm with you."

While Hayley's inside taking a shower, I decide to go outside for some air. The sun had disappear a couple of hours ago and the moon reflects in the pool in the back yard. The water looks cool and inviting in the Louisiana heat. I contemplate putting my feet in when I hear a twig snap. Slowly walking to the other side on the pool I see a gray and white wolf with ember eyes watching me. The wolf doesn't seem aggressive or defensive. It just stares at me calmly like it knows me.

"You're not suppose to be out here." A voice suddenly sounds behind me. Spinning around I see a pretty dark skinned girl around my age with very curly dark hair.

"Who are you?" I ask unsure.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." She says kindly. "I'm Sabine. We met. I'm one of Sophie's friends."

"You're one of the witches." I infer. "Sorry if that doesn't flood me with confidence in your character." I add sarcastically but she just laughs.

"Sophie just asked me to come keep you company while everyone is out." She smiles.

"Well, I have Hayley and since when is Sophie concerned about my boredom?" I ask with an eye roll.

"I think she just wants to see how you're doing with everything." She half defends Sophie still sporting a gentle smile. "You know, it's drawn to you." She gestures to the wolf. "The child you're carrying is part vampire and werewolf. You and Klaus made something special."

"You sound like Elijah." I rely. "He thinks this baby is gonna make us one big, happy family. Which sounds like a pipe dream." Looking down at my belly, I add. "I don't even know what it is."

"You know, I can do something about that if you want, I mean find out if it's a boy or girl." She offers.

"I thought you couldn't do witchy stuff around here."

"It's not magic, just an old trick my grandmother taught me." She jerks her head a little towards the house. "Come on. You have to be a little curious."

I lead her inside straight to the kitchen. Hayley is at the sink filling a glass full of water when she hears us enter.

"Hayley, this is Sabine. Sophie sent her to play babysitter." I roll my eyes. Sabine chuckles and sticks her hand out for Hayley to shake.

   "Hi." She lightly smiles.

"She's going to attempt to tell me the sex of my miracle baby." I tell her unbothered but secretly a little excited to know. "Without magic, of course."

"Cool. What do you need to do that?" Hayley directs her question to Sabine.

"Just this." She pulls a clear crystal attached to a long thin chain out of her pocket. "Just lay flat on your back on the island." She instructs. Doing as she asks, I move to the island counter in the middle of the kitchen and jump up. After I lay down and adjust, Sabine stands next to my stomach and holds the crystal over it. The crystal starts moving in a circle clockwise. "I think it's a girl." Sabine smiles at me. I return it and send one to Hayley. However, the joy is short lived when the crystal picks up in speed and the circles get smaller. "Wait, what?" Sabine exclaims worrying me. Hayley comes closer in concern.

"Please tell me I'm not having a mini Niklaus." I try to lighten the mood. All the sudden she drops the crystal. Her arms stiffen to her side and her head shoots back with her mouth wide open.

"Hoc Est Infantima Malom. Nos Omnia Perdetu El Eam." She starts repeating over and over. Hayley pulls me up and off the counter as Sabine finally come out of it.

"What the hell was that?" Hayley prodes keeping me in arms length.

   "Nothing." She answers flustered.

"It didn't look like nothing." I state trying to keep my emotions in check as Sabine pulls herself together.

"Congratulations on having a girl." She smiles still holding back. "I have to go."

"Wait! Sabine!" I yell in vein. She is already out the door and definitely not coming back.

Hayley and share a confused look, the same question written across our faces. What the hell just happened?

______________

As Hayley wonders upstairs to bed, I hunt down a laptop, which happens to be in Niklaus' office. If he's going to insist I stay confide to this house, I might as well take advantage. Walking around his desk I sit in his chair putting one leg under the other.  I search Google to find a translation website. Once I finally find one and pull it up Niklaus enters through the door.

"I thought you might like to know, Elijah is returning to us."

"Congratulations. I guess being diabolical has it's perks." I smirk at him.

"You hardly know him and yet you miss him." He starts making me almost laugh. "What is it about my brother that always inspires such instant admiration?"

"You've got it all wrong." I tell him. "I don't 'miss' Elijah. I don't really care if he's here or not. Although I appreciate him wanting to protect me and Hayley, even if it's just because I'm carrying your kid." He furrows his eyebrows. "Hayley, now is another story. I think she has a crush." I sigh. "I do, however, respect him."

   "And why is that?"

"He was nice to me and he didn't have to be." I shrug. "But as far as admiration, that's a bit of an exaggeration. He's not my type." I crunch up my nose, at which he chuckles a bit.

"Why not?" He asks sounding curious.

"He's too well-mannered and immaculate for me. Not to mention clean cut and proper." A smirk appears on his face as he turns to leave. "Hey, I learned something today." I add stopping him. He doesn't turn back to me, but I know he is listening. So, with a smile I say "I think it's a girl." He stands there for a long moment before leaving. I go back to failing at trying to translate, whatever language Sabine was speaking, for the majority of the night.
