Chapter 63: Opening Up and Tensions

James's POV,

It was around 2 am when I woke up to my bedroom door opening. I quickly rubbed my eyes before slowly reaching over and turning on my bedside lamp, to reveal Maggie standing at my door.

"You alright?" I asked worriedly. She shook her head. I just opened my arms for her to climb in. She shuts the door after her and climbs into the bed and rests her head on my chest. "You going to tell me what's wrong?" I ask her.

"I don't want to hurt you James," She says, how could she hurt me?

"Maggie, you can't hurt me," I tell her, giving her a tight reassuring hug.

"I miss him," She breathes out. Oh.

"It's normal to Mags," I tell her.

"You don't hate me?" She asks.

"Of course not! I know how much you and Brad have gone through, and in my mind, I believe that sometime in the future you two will be back together." I admit.

"But...what about you?" She lifts her head looking me straight into the eye.

"I'll just be me, maybe I will find someone, maybe I won't, maybe you will stay with me, thought I'd be happier to see you happy with Brad, or just to see you happy." I then tell her, her cold lip ring resting on my lip. She leans up and kisses me. She gave me a soft kiss on the lips making me want more. I kiss her back cupping her cheeks with my hands. We pull away and she lies her head back on my chest. I stroke her hair.

"I don't know James," she sighs gripping onto my, I hug her with my free hand.

"Whatever you decide, I will support you Mags, I promise you," I tell her. "I love you," I then say. There is a short but comfortable silence before Maggie breaks it.

"I love you too James, the fact that you are my best friend and possibly more, it makes me happy," She says. I smile like an idiot.

"Let's try and get some sleep sweet eh?" I try to say in a posh accent.

"Alright," She rolls off me and gets comfortable. I turn off my lamp on my bedside table and lie close to her. I put my arm over pulling her closer, our bodies touching.

"Night Jammie Dodger," Maggie whispers.

"Night Mags," I whisper back, I like her nick name for me.

I wake up and Maggie is still here, I wasn't expecting her to be, but I was glad she was. Suddenly the door slowly opens, revealing Brad. Awkward? He looks at me and Maggie, before looking away in disgust. I did feel bad.

"Hey," I broke the silence, still far too close to Maggie for Brad's liking.

"Urm, Joe is here..." He says.

"Thanks," I say and he shuts the door after him. I try to untangle myself from Maggie without waking her up, failing.

"James?" She rubs her eyes.

"Morning," I smile at her as she looks at me.

"Morning, who was that?" She asks stroking my cheek.

"Brad," I bite my lip as I say that. She lifts her eye brows before shrugging and giggling.

"What's so funny?" I ask her.

"I wonder what he's thinking, to what conclusions he has jumped," She says still smiling.

"Well apparently Joe is downstairs, so I'm going to get ready," I say getting up. Maggie pulls me back, gives me a quick peck then lets me go, getting out of my bed the other side.

"I'll meet you downstairs then," She says and walks out.

Brad's POV,

What the fuck?
I was so shocked when I opened the door to James's room to find Maggie there. Joe asked me to get James, since everyone else was downstairs, and we have small tour arrangements to discuss. I felt so empty. Almost heart broken. Scrap that. I feel heart broken. If Maggie felt this too, then who the hell am I? The worst boy friend ever...

"He coming?" Joe asks me as I walk into the living room.

"Yup, just getting changed," I sigh.

"Everything alright?" Con asks me. I give him a nod and force a smile.

"Sorry, you didn't tell us you were coming, I would of done my make up for you Joe," James jokes coming down and giving Joe a man hug.

"Haha, so funny" Joe says then his face goes serious. "Right boys," He says seriously. "You have an offer to go song writing in America, as well as a few promotion shows." He pauses. "Do you take it or are you leaving it?" He then asks us. We all exchange looks of happiness.

"Of course!" We all shout and stuff.

"What's all this excitement about?" Maggie walks in. Her hair is in a messy bun, she was wearing some high waisted shorts and a tank top.

"Morning Maggie," Everyone says one after another.

"Well?" She raises and eyebrow, taking an apple from the table and bitting into it.

"We can go America, do some song writing and a few shows," I say looking at her. She looked at me all the way as I said that. She made me melt inside. What have I done? And now she was James's. She'd be stupid if she would wait, and James would be stupid if he didn't make a move.

"That's great!" She smiles.

"Will the girls be able to come?" Con asked.

"I guess so, since you will each have a room, but NO funny business alright?" Joe said strictly.

"Is Rachel coming?" I asked Joe as everyone else left for the kitchen.

"Yup, why? Thought you two had a 'thing' that ruined you and Maggie?" Joe said, almost disappointed? Great way to make me feel any better.

"She has a thing, I got caught. Now I don't know" I admit to Joe.

"Well there is nothing I can do about her not coming, sorry mate," He says and walks off.

"One day when you guys are recording or whatever, is it okaii if I slip out and go and see Luke? Then Lulu?" Maggie asks everyone, mainly looking at Joe.

"That's fine, since you won't be able to be with the boys really..." Joe admits. James gets up, I quickly get up and follow him. He walks up the stairs and down the hall.

"James wait up!" I call him. He stops and turns around smiling.

"Yeah?" He asks as I come close enough.

"Are you and Maggie... you know ... dating?" I question him. He smirks.

"No, not yet," He says. YET?! So he was planning on it. "Well none of us asked, best friends with benefits I guess," James shrugs. I nod and walk to my room. Time to pack for America!
