"Mr MacArthur," the hotel manager smiled as he stepped off the elevator. Dressed in his grey Tom Ford suit with his two personal body guards behind him and two in front,  he glanced up from his phone and nodded

"We've arranged transportation, courtesy of us," He said, walking out to the white Rolls Royce

"Thank you," Elijah nodded, tucking his phone in his pocket, climbing into the back of the Rolls Royce.

He sat back as the car started moving. A while later, they reached their destination.

"Mr MacArthur," Mr Bolton greeted him at the door of the party. He offered a drink, which he kindly declined. "Welcome." He shook his hand, showing him inside

"Thank you,"

He had been invited to a charity ball which was just a party to see who was the riches but they claimed they have good reason.

He knew it was a lie, but in the elite world, appearance matters a lot, and he had a reputation to maintain.

He had a gut feeling Diana would be here. He glanced around and found her at the bar, talking to a man

As long as she wasn't talking to him

Since yesterday, he had double his security with four bodyguards.

"Elliot," Mr Bolton called the man talking to Diana as they both walked over

"Mr MacArthur, my son Elliot, and this is his childhood friend," Mr Bolton introduced

"Yeah, we met," Diana answered

"Have you? Your father will be happy about that," Mr Bolton said. At the mention of her father, Elijah knows the change in expression

He shook hands with Elliot. "Nice to meet you,"

"You too, Mr MacArthur,"

"I must say, you have a lot of security," Diana commented as Mr Bolton and Elliot walked over to other guest

"Yeah, I've been stalked by people. I'm concerned for my safety, " He mumbled lowly, only enough for her to hear. He followed them into the hall and was greeted by businessmen.

He escaped to the bar as they got distracted. He ordered a whisky and played a candy crush on his phone, trying to beat his personal score.

"Elijah." Diana sat down beside him

"Diana, what can I do for you?" Elijah rolled his eyes, not lifting his eyes off his phone

"Buy me a drink." She smiled

"No, why don't you get your date too?" Elijah cast his eye to Elliot

"Elliot is not my date. He's my friend. Why? Are you jealous?"

"I'm not jealous. Why would I be? I'm glad you're not bothering me,"

"Mean,"

"You're not five," He replied back. He closed his phone, taking one gulp of his drink as he slammed back onto the table and walked off

"Elijah, may I have a dance?" Eliza Zhang approached him with a grin on her face. He put down his glass, tucking his phone away.

"Sure, Miss Zhang," He smiled back

"We can drop the pleasantries," Eliza commented. Elijah gave a nod.

They walked to the dance floor. "Tell me, are all the parties like this?" He whispered as he put his hands on her waist, pulling her close to him.

"You know me, I love a good party," She replied
