It was the homecoming football game, and like every other year, you had no date for the dance. You were a cheerleader, but guys just weren't into you. As you cheered your team onto victory, you saw Hayes Grier, the quarterback and the most popular guy at school, staring at you from the sideline. You felt your cheeks heat and quickly looked away from him.

The game ended about an hour later with a victory for your team, and you felt a prescence behind you. "Alyssa," a deep voice said and you felt a hand on your shoulder. You turned around, your eyes meeting with the bright blue eyes pf Hayes Grier. "Hey, I was wondering. Are you going to the dance tonight?"

"No, I don't have a date," you mumbled, feeling embarrassed.

"Well, would you do me the honor and be my date to the dance?" Hayes asked, smiling sheepishly.

"I don't have a dress, Hayes," you said, although you were highly flattered that Hayes Grier asked you to the dance.

"How about we go to my house and watch movies? I'm not really the dance type anyways," he said, raising his eyebrows.

"Sure Hayes," you said, smiling.

"Yes," he said, throwing his hands up. "I thought you might say no."

"I was highly considering it," you joked, making his face fall. "Hayes, I was just joking."

"Oh," he said, furrowing his eyebrows.

"You're not the brightest one are you, Hayes?" you asked, making him laugh.

"Nope, but I am the luckiest to get to spend time with a girl like you," he said, taking your hand in his.

"And I am lucky to be spending time with you," you said, looking down at your intertwined hands. This was perfect and you wouldn't change it for the world.
