Adam's POV

It was lunch time and I couldn't find Nicole anywhere. I've looked everywhere and Selena can't find her either. She's not answering any of her messages. Maybe she's gone home. I don't know. The bell rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I went to my next lesson which was English. Nicole is in my English class so she should be there. I sat in our usual seat, at the back. Nicole wasn't there.

Ten minutes into the lesson, I figured out that she was not coming. I stood up and walked out, ignoring the teacher, who's telling me to come back. I went straight to my car and drove to Nicole's house. She must've skived off, god I'm such a bad influence on her. I arrived at her house and I saw that the door was fully opened and I rushed in. Someone must've broken in. Why else would the door be wide open?

There was no sight of anything being stolen but I heard a faint scream upstairs. It sounded like Nicole. I rushed upstairs and the scream was coming from the bathroom. She was screaming a piercing scream and then would stop and start again, like she was being tortured and tormented. The door was locked. Her screams continued and I became more desperate. I kicked the door down with all my force and it flung open.

My heart broke when I saw her. I felt like I was shattered into millions of pieces. I felt like breaking down right there. She was sat in the bathtub, with her hands dangling out. Her arms had several deep cuts, that were huge and blood from her arms dripped onto the white tile floor. Her face was all bruised up and her body was too. She had tears streaming down her face. On the floor was packets of sleeping tablets and they were empty. There was a bottle labelled 'Phenol' near her and it seemed as though she had drank it all. My brain clicked, we learnt about that in Science. All I could remember was that it was extremely dangerous.

Tears dripped from my eyes. She was screaming in agonising pain every 20 second or so. I picked her fragile body up carefully and rushed to the car. I placed her in the front and I sat in the car and started driving. She screamed an ear piercing pain continually on the way to the hospital. The blood dripped from her arms onto my seat but I didn't care. All I wanted was for her to be okay. Please be okay, Nicole. She can't die. I don't know what I'd do without her.

I rushed into the hospital, with Nicole in my arm, and I saw a doctor walking through the corridor. I went past the receptionist and ran straight to the doctor. He turned when he heard Nicole screaming. His eyes widened and told me to follow him. We walked through a corridor where it had 'ICU' written on the wall. I followed him in a room and he told me to place her on the hospital bed. I did so and Nicole held my hand tightly and I promised her I wouldn't let go.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I found her, she's taken some sleeping tablets and a bottle of Phenol," I said. His eyes widened.

"She's going to be alright, isn't she?" I asked.

"What's her name?" He asked, ignoring my question.

"Nicole Parkinson," I replied.

He asked someone to contact her parents as dozens of nurses and doctor huddled over Nicole. He began giving them instructions and talking in jargon to them. They put a tube in her arm and injected something into her. Another nurse put an oxygen mask on her, covering her mouth and nose. The doctor monitored her and then several minutes later told all of them to stop. Just like that, they stopped trying to save her. She continued screaming out in pain, which made tears form in my eyes. I hated being so helpless. I couldn't stop her pain.

"Why have you stopped? Can't you see she's suffering and in so much pain," I asked him, my voice breaking.

"I have contacted her parents and they're coming, there's nothing more we can do. Phenol is an extremely dangerous substance that will burn your organs out when you consume a large amount and there is no way back from it, her organs are burning and she is dying, sir, she has about 20 minutes left, I am truly sorry. I'll leave you two alone, call me if you need anything," he said, walking out the room.

My hands were still holding Nicole's and the tears fell freely from my eyes. I kissed her hand and continued holding it. It hurt so much to see her in so much pain. She looked extremely hot and sweaty like she was burning up. She screamed in agony and stopped. She looked up at me. She was breathing really heavily. Anyone could tell that she was in so much pain.

"I'm so sorry, Adam, I couldn't do it anymore, I'm so sorry, they kept and kept on hurting me and I couldn't take it anymore. You don't need me, I'm no one special," she strained out, a tear falling down her cheeks.

"Nicole, I love you more than anything, you are the only reason why I smile everyday, you make me so happy, I don't know what I'm going to do without you. I wanted to grow old with you and have kids with you, I was even willing to call one of them Ed Sheeran even though I don't really like him, I'm not going to have anything without you, I'm going to have no one because you were the only one for me. You are the most funniest person I know who was also so fucking nice to everyone yet people still ended up hating a pretty girl like you, fuck them. Fuck them all, because I only needed you to be happy... but you're not going to be here anymore," I said, as tears fell from my eyes.

Tears streamed down her face when she heard me and she hugged me tight. I then kissed her, our lips meeting each other. I moved her hair away from her face. I caressed her cheeks. She laid back down onto the bed.

"Who did this to you?" I asked, anger rising up inside me. Someone must have caused her so much pain for her to feel like she could not live anymore. There was a long pause. She looked at me. The monitor beeping at the same pace as her heart increased substantially.

"I love you, Adam," she said, smiling at me.

She then screamed an ear piercing scream, louder than before, as the monitor beeped rapidly. Her hand tightened around my hand. The beeping abruptly stopped. She stopped screaming and looked at me and smiled. Her eyes were full of tears. I watched as the light left her eyes and her final breath faded into the atmosphere.
