Chapter 30

Amelia's POV

Nicole and her family knocked on the door. I ran to the door and opened it. I said hello to them which are one of the few words I could say. I assumed they replied as their lips were moving and they had the biggest smiles on their faces.

I saw Nicole and ran and hugged her. I love Nicole. She's so nice, really funny and extremely gorgeous. She hugged me back and carried me. We went to the main living room which had the Christmas tree in it. Because it was like 3:00PM, Claire thought that we should all eat dinner.

I pulled Nicole away from Adam and led her to the dining room where we would eat. The dinner table had Christmas crackers, plates and cutlery already set up on it. I made Nicole sit next to me.

'I'm really hungry' I signed to her.

She looked confused and I remembered that she didn't understand Sign Language. Adam then translated to her what I was saying. Adam told me that she was hungry as well. That's probably the biggest downfall with being deaf. Most people can't understand what you're saying which is pretty annoying.

I got the Christmas party hat that was on the table and put it on Adam's head. I laughed at how ridiculous he looked. He pulled funny faces which were hilarious. I absolutely love Adam. He's the best. I don't know what I'd do without him. He learnt sign language when he was 10 with me just so he could interact and talk with me. Dad learnt later on with Claire. Adam's always been there for me and I know he loves me. Dad and Claire are amazing too but Adam's the best.

I put my knees on my chair and lifted my body up enough so I could kiss him. I kissed his cheek and my pink lipgloss made his cheek shiny. I could see Nicole was laughing and she leaned over to Adam and kissed his other cheek which left a red print on his cheek. He was annoyed and wiped his cheeks whilst me and Nicole bursted out laughing.

'Stacey and Mark said you look stunning,' Adam signed, pointing to Mark and Stacey.

I looked at them both and signed thank you which Adam translated.

Claire bought in the roast chicken which was giving out a delicious smell. She placed the tray holding the chicken in the centre of the table. She bought a plate of cooked vegetables which was just roast potatoes, chopped carrots and brussel sprouts. She then bought two jugs of gravy and mince pies onto the table. She continued bringing plates of food until the table was full.

Dad stood up to cut the chicken for everyone.

"Can I just say it's been a pleasure getting to know your family and even spending Christmas with you, and Nicole you make Adam so happy, I can't be more grateful than I am," Dad said.

I only knew what he was saying thanks to Adam who was translating to me. I should pay him, shouldn't I? He always make sure that I'm never left out.

"It's been a pleasure for us too," Nicole's Dad said to him. Adam translated again.

He continued to cut the chicken and placed 4 pieces on everyone's plate. I got up and put 5 roast potatoes on my plate and some carrots. Adam poured gravy on for me. Everyone put what they wanted to eat on their own plates. I finished eating everything and I was full up.

I got up and left the table.

'Where are you going?' Adam signed.

'Toilet,' I signed back.

He nodded and I went toilet and re-applied my lip gloss, seeing as it all went on Adam's face before. I got the present that I got for Nicole and brung it downstairs. I put it under the Christmas tree and went back to the dining room. Everyone had finished eating and Nicole's mum was helping Claire to clean up everything, whilst everyone else left to go to the living room.

We sat in the living room on the sofa and I got the present that I got for Nicole. I gave it her and she opened it. I made her a friendship bracelet that had her name on it. She hugged me and I knew that she liked it as she put it on straight away. She then gave me a present. I opened it and it was a painting set. I absolutely loved painting. Claire said I was really talented at painting. The painting set looked extremely expensive and I hugged Nicole.

'Thank you,' I signed.

She nodded as if she understood what I was saying. Claire bought me new paintbrushes and canvases, which I loved. Dad gave me his present for me. I opened it and inside was the an Ipod. I screamed and hugged dad.

'Thank you, you're amazing,' I signed to him.

'You're welcome, I love you,' he signed.

'I love you too,' I signed back.

I opened the present Adam bought me. Inside was a pair of hearing aids. They weren't any hearing aids. They were pink ones! The earmold were coloured glittery pink and had a pink 'hook', which was the bit that went over your ears.

I took my regular coloured hearing aids off instantly and put the pink ones off. I absolutely loved them. They looked gorgeous.

'You look beautiful,' Adam signed.

'Thank you, I love them,' I signed back.

Claire opened the gift that Nicole's family gave them and they all gave out gifts. Mark and Stacey gave me a gift which I opened straight away. It was a makeup kit, which was amazing.

'Thank you,' I signed to them.

I hugged them both and they smiled back. The makeup kit had 5 shades of lipgloss, 2 eyeshadow palettes, glittery eyeliners, 2 shades of blush and lots more makeup products. Dad put a movie on which was typically a Christmas movie. I found it extremely boring.

'Shall we do Adam's makeup?' I signed to Nicole.

She didn't understand what I was saying. I then texted her from my iPod as I got her number earlier on.

'Shall we do Adam's makeup?' -Amelia

'Yeah, you sure he'd liked that?' - Nicole

'Obviously' -Amelia

I grabbed Adam's hand and dragged him upstairs. I gestured for Nicole to follow and she did. I took him to my room and made him sit down on my chair. He sat down and looked confused.

'Me and Nicole are going to do your makeup' I signed to him, pointing at Nicole.

'Is it necessary?' Adam signed.

'Yes it is, you need a makeover,' I signed.

He sat back and closed his eyes. I got the new makeup kit that Stacey and Mark bought me and opened it. Nicole pulled a bottle of liquid from her bag. It had 'MAC concealer' written on it and she applied it to his face. Whilst she applied concealer and blush on his face, I did his eyeshadow in pink and silver.

We finished our our piece of art. Adam looked in the mirror and his mouth opened wide. I'm guessing that he was screaming due to his facial expressions. Me and Nicole bursted out laughing.

We made Adam go downstairs and show everyone our masterpiece. Stacey gave me thumbs up whilst everyone else looked like they were trying to hold back laughing.

We all sat down and I made Adam put Frozen on. On my last birthday, Adam bought me Frozen where they had a person translating and signing in the corner so I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Everyone sat on the sofa, watching Frozen.

I felt tired and exhausted so I rested my head on Adam's shoulder.
