Adam's POV

I've never really been interested in the winter's ball but I really want to go with Nicole this year. I'm not sure whether to ask her. She might not be interested in this kind of thing.

I walked into school with Nicole and there was a massive stall that were giving out tickets to people wanting to go to the ball. Lots of people were crowding the stall. I looked at Nicole who was looking at the stall and then she got out of her daze and walked to her locker with me. A part of me was wishing that she'd ask me about going to the ball.

"I'm going to go find Jason, you'll be okay?" I asked Nicole.

"Yeah, I'm heading to Physics," She said.

I walked down to Jason's locker, where he was with Ross and Jeff. Jeff and Ross went to their lessons and me and Jason just talked.

"I want to go to the ball with Nicole but I don't think she wants to go," I told Jason.

"Ooh Nicole, well seeing as you're already going out with her, just ask her," Jason said.

"But what if she says no," I asked.

"My advice would be to go to her at lunch and ask her then, if she says no then it's not like you've lost her, she's still your girl, bro," He said.

"True, I'll ask her at lunch, thanks man," I said, feeling less nervous.

"No problem and hey it worked for me, I'm going with Selena," Jason said.

We went to our lesson and I decided that I'd ask her. Hopefully.

It was lunch and me and Nicole were walking to the canteen and sat on our own table. She bought a pizza and I got sparkling water.

"So I wanted to ask you something for a long time," I said, nervous as anything.

"Go on," Nicole said, whilst eating her pizza.

"Well, do you want to..." I said, taking my time.

"Go on," Nicole said.

"To go to my house after school?" I said.

Oh my daysss! Why didn't I just ask her? I'm so stupid. I can't even believe I backed out. I don't even know why I asked her to come to my house, she's going to find out everything and I don't want her too. She's going to think I'm some messed up kid and hate me.

"Yeah, I'll come," she said, smiling.

After school, me and Nicole headed off home. Everyone was staring at my car and they were clearly jealous of Nicole and I. We were used to them looking and we zoomed off into the distance. When we got to my house, I'll admit I was a nervous wreck.

"Wow, you're house is beautiful!" Nicole said, admiring it.

"You think? I've always been fond of your house to be honest," I said to her.

We walked inside my house and she was admiring everything that caught her eye. I was adamant that she never saw my parents so I quickly tried to get her to go upstairs but my mum came out.

"Ooh who's this, Adam?" Mum said.

"It's Nicole, my girlfriend," I said, smiling.

Mum rushed to Nicole and hugged her tight. She stroked her hair and kissed Nicole's head.

"You've made Adam so happy, all he does is talk about you," mum said. I covered my face.

"Really? I didn't know," Nicole said, smiling.

"He does! I've got to show you to Alan." Mum said, dragging Nicole to dad's office, whilst I just stayed here.

"I'm going to wait in my room for you Nic," I said.

Please don't let her recognise anything or know anything. She's going to hate me if she finds out about it.

Nicole walked in and she looked really confused. Oh shit, she probably knows. I don't even know what to do.

"Erm Adam," Nicole said.

I knew she was going to ask so I  got my phone in my hand and started to look busy on it.

"How come you have brown hair, when your mum and dad both have blonde? And your eyes as well, they're brown when your mum has green and your dad has blue. And your mum doesn't look like you and you just have your dad's nose. Not being rude or anything." Nicole asked.

"Look at this photo, Nic!" I showed her a photo of me when I was 5 and I looked like a chav.

"Aww so cute!" Nicole squealed.

Nicole forget about what she asked and I was grateful. We talked for ages and then I decided to ask her finally.

"Hey, Nicole, do you know that ball that they're having in school? Well I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?" I asked her, nervous.

"I thought you'd never ask, Adam! Yeah I'll come with you." She shrieked.

I kissed her and we chilled for another hour before I took her home. I can't believe I'm actually going with Nicole to the ball. I'm still scared that she'll bring up the subject of my parents again.

She was hurting and curious to know about the ghosts of Adam's past. He was still scared from the ghosts of his pasts. Will he recover from the heartbreaking trauma? Will she find out about Adam's past? He needed her more than ever. But he did not know, nor did she. She was the girl that was slowly dying...
